Just watched it. I get the impression he is a big fan of the, 996, lol!

I like watching him. He tends to do videos of cars I like. And since he bought that Mustang Shelby tribute, I'm a fan!

So yes, I support his channel - roast me if you must. He's 15 min of entertainment once a week. Just one of many that I like to watch.

Hoovie is entertaining. I don't think he's ever claimed to work on his own cars. The wizard idea was funny. He seems to be more informed and delivers it in a comical way and that has proven to be successful. This is like the comic section of automotive YouTube channels.

Because he doesn't and that is the one thing I genuinely like about him is that he doesn't claim to be mechanically inclined or making smart financial choices. Often times acknowledging his failures in the past which IMO is a trait we don't often see in people these days. I have no problem that people don't like him, obviously, I do so I am biased its just funny to see how much emotions a YouTuber can conjure up. Then people start throwing around made-up scenarios to try and further their view.

Some folks are mechanically inclined. I’m not one of them. I tend to break anything I attempt to fix. I find Hoovie entertaining. He is the 1st to admit he doesn’t turn a wrench. Like him or not he’s made a few bucks from his YT channel. And I agree with the above; I don’t see JR taking him as a customer. Just not in his wheelhouse and FSI doesn’t need the publicity, and with a year + wait list what would be the point anyways?

Hoovie likes clicks, likes money, and is an embarrassment to car people everywhere. He does not like cars other than they provide a way to give him click revenue.

Yep.
I also like to watch his friend WatchJRGo who actually does his own work
And Harry's Garage is pretty good for exotic/odd ball euro cars.

Disagree. He’s into cars. Just doesn’t know how to work on them. But that’s part of his YT schtick. How much of a mess he can get himself into. He definitely like cars though.

You got that right! He wouldn't pay the required money, I am sure... I don't give discounts, either.

Haven't seen JRgo. I do like Harry's garage. I like Doug Demuro, Jay Leno's Garage and B is for Build to name a few others.

January 1, 2018 I made a new years resolution to avoid Doug Demuro anything. I've done well so far.
I just think he's a clown and his opinion isn't worth anything.
YMMV

i watched him once. I forget what car he was reviewing but it was an older car and he was bashing features and design elements as if the car was a new car. He had no concept of car history and how some features (like vent windows, back seat ash trays, etc) were important at the time.

i maintain if you truly know anything about cars you should be be able to judge them at the point in history they were made. Could you imagine him reviewing a Model T for his millennial audience? It was a car that literally changed the US (and possibly even the world) and he would be squealing about the lack of cup holders.

Jay Lenos garage and Barn Find Hunter are is pretty much the only channels I look at with any regularity. They about the only ones who haven't devolved into click baiting titles and hyped up screeching

It's all about money and how many subscribers your YouTube channel can generate for you. All these guys provide some sort of entertainment for varying tastes and some are more informative than others. The good news is that we can choose which ones to watch or ignore. As it relates to buying a 996 for $6k, maybe he got lucky and it will be ok, but as the old saying goes, "If it seems to good to be true..."

Also disagree. If you have watched some of his videos and history, you can tell he got really into cars as a little kid. He appears to have had some help from pops along the way which doesn't hurt, and he's continued to build on his passion over the years. I say good for him that he's been able to monetize his passion via his YT channel.

This guy is a typical "modern car guy" that built a "following". He knows about what he can read on Google, and forums. These are normally the type that use cars as decorations for their garage, and changing their own oil is worthy of chest beating.
I'm not much for "followers". More leading, and less following is what our country used to be known for.
There's not a lot of old school, "built instead of bought" car guys these days. When I cross paths with another one, I appreciate it.
