The Ultimate AOS Solution would definitely be a perk to list on the specs if you put your Porsche on Bring A Trailer or one of the other sites.

Default Despair and yet more engine issues

Hi @Porschetech3 I bought the uaos as well as your improved hose and had it installed by my Indy last summer. In the fall I had problems with rough idle, and power loss. When I woke the car up from winter I thought I had resolved the issue as my dash warning lights cleared after I installed a new OEM MAF sensor. I replaced the MAF based on the engine behavior and dash light illumination, not hard evidence. (I can't get my durametric to connect correctly to the ECU). And page 208 of the Essential Companion book.

Once installed with a new intake filter, the faults cleared and I drove the car about 100 miles or so, assumed the issue was resolved. But yesterday after a 30 min drive I pulled into the grocery and when I returned after a quick shop, the car started rough and I had power loss and the ABS and psm lights come on again. Despair... I Let it cool a bit. and the engine got me home, with just the familiar slight hesitation that I had before the new MAF. It's the ECU juggling the issue I suppose.Monday I will call and make an appointment with a specialist in Halifax, a 2 hour drive. I'm not sure where I'll take it, I think I need a 996 specialist. I'm posting this here because looking under the hood I found two things I want to ask you about. 1) is this connection meant to be loose? See the pic. The part slides loose back and forth in the slot, where I circled it.

Also, why is the membrane carrier 'wet' with what I assume is oil? Do I need a new membrane maybe?

Thanks for your assistance. Sorry the engine bay is dusty, I got on a dirt road the other day while searching for the family graveyard. I found it, but only after 10 min on dirt roads.

Brandon

@damage98MO If you look at the gray change-over valve it has a retaining clip on the back that should secure it when it is fully seated down in the slot...It should "click" in place and require an effort to release it..

As for the wetness on the flow regulator it doesn't appear to be an active leak or a drip, just a slight weepage and no concern...just periodically wipe off the residue...

EDIT: I found the engine compartment sensor hanging down from where it was supposed to be. Going to address that and see if it is resolved. Thank you for the info above!

997.1 specific question but this seems to be the place to ask.

I recently got the UAOS installed and no issues with the car's performance, nor any lamps or warnings, but my fans are coming on wayyyy more frequently and for longer after this change than before it. Any idea on potential causes? The passenger side front radiator fan and the decklid aux fan are running like autocross in 95+ deg outside when it's just been street driven modestly in the 60s or 70s deg weather.

You will be pleased with the performance of the UOAS !

Yes, if the engine compartment temp sensor has fell out of the holder, the engine lid fan will run a lot more than usual, but it will not effect the front radiator fans... The radiator fans are controlled by coolant temp and A/C functions...

Right. This is why I was surprised. Is there a change in the integration of the coolant temp sensor with the UAOS?

@BmacIL No, the UAOS warning system is only integrated into the "slow flash" circuit ( the small yellow light above the temp gauge, and will blink once per second ) ..It is NOT integrated into the coolant temp circuit/sensor/gauge...

I confirmed that I'm only seeing the one fan running very often with the AC on. Something else going on with the one fan or fan controller.
