The "Ultimate AOS Solution"
#721
Just a heads up to anyone considering doing their AOS and using one of Skip’s kits, definitely pay the extra to get his upgraded crossover hose. It’s super nicely made and should be about 1000x more robust than the crappy accordion plastic oem one. It’s also a lot less complicated to install.
I’m in the middle of doing this job on my .2 coupe and I wish I’d have known about it when I did the UAOS initially and saved myself a bunch of time/work.
It’s not cheap at $200ish but well worth it if you plan on keeping your car.
One caveat though, I had to order a new breather neck for the passenger side head ( 996.2 uses 996-107-047-00) for the $20 or less that they cost from the dealer, it would be worthwhile for @Porschetech3 to bump the cost of the hose and include it just to make the process truly plug and play.

@khyatt all 2002 and part of the 2003 models already have the 996-107-047-00 spigot installed on them , the 2003 starting with engine # 0995 , and 2004 doesn't have it.
I should have asked this question before sending the hose, but I forgot. I'll try to remember to ask this question in the future and if needed ,send it along with the hose..

%$#@!&**))!!!!!
Whoever designed that wire loom that covers the front AOS bolt needs to go back to engineering school...
I've got the intake manifold "***** bolt" in, UAOS is in and I've got the rear allen bolt in.
Spent the last three hours trying to get a allen wrench on that front UAOS bolt.
Anyone want to give me some pointers? I have a endoscope I've been using to see my way around...
I think I'm going to turn this thing into the first ever Porsche go-cart...

Merry Christmas everyone!!! and @Porschetech3 of course!
Yup, got it in this morning. Been buttoning things up. I do have a question, and please look over these pics to make sure I've got everything routed correctly.
First, the question, where does this connector go?
And now for the pics to look over...

The changeover valve relocation bracket should be level, it has missed alignment in the left bolt hole. It is better to put the bracket on the outside of the Accumulator so you can better see the alignment.
The changeover valve should be clipped into that bracket where the little notch is.. The wiring harness needs to be re-positioned accordingly...
The connector you are asking about looks like the one that goes to the purge valve ( connects to the little nipple on the Norma Quick Connector)
Also the small line needs to be clipped into the holding bracket, just to make things tidy...
Also the CNC'ed Black Aluminum Anodized Accumulator needs all the finger prints cleaned off to show the beautiful "Coates de Geneve"..
Otherwise looks like a good job !!

Changeover valve relocation bracket, I think I understand it's orientation, but not sure. Do you have a good pic showing how it should look all connected?
Here's how I'm thinking it should go...

@sasilverbullet see the pic above from Tom for the correct changeover valve relocation bracket and valve position for all "E-gas throttle bodies".

@Porschetech3 For my own curiosity why is the brake booster not connected to the intake where the accumulator mounts?
Porsche concluded that automatics and X51 cars needed a little more vacuum for the brake booster at low RPM's , so they installed what's called a "venturi vacuum booster" , that uses air velocity into a sort of "y" connector to create a little more vacuum...
So the piping is a little different to accommodate the venturi vacuum booster..

I'm looking to do this on my 02 c2 manual. Found my crankcase pressure was -18inh2O in March 24, replaced with OEM AOS unit, pressure was -5inh2o and now its up to -14.... so I'm thinking premature failure.. after about 6 weeks!??!?!
Well I might just need to do UAOS. I drive the car hard and often, redline is a good friend. @Porschetech3 Is it recommended to remove expansion tank to install UAOS? I replaced it when I did AOS in March, but would prefer to leave it alone this time if possible. Though more access to those miserable AOS bolts and the bitch bolt on the left air distributor is critical, I've found.
