I'll have no problem making those dates . I do ask for a 2-4 week lead time just in case a part gets backordered.

That's great, I'm leading a high speed club tour Mar 26 and I don't think my old Tacoma pickup would set the proper pace

I'll have you fixed up !! I love the "high speed tours" with the local PCA Club, and a few of us Hooligans create our own tours. The local Club just had the "Polar Bear Run". It started at Porsche Birmingham, went past Barber Motorsport Park, then about 75 miles of backroads up to the top of Cheaha Mountain, ( highest point in Bama), then back off the other side to end at lunch in Anniston. Over 40 car string of Porsches, great fun !!

Quick and simple OVERVIEW/SUMMARY of the UAOS

The Ultimate AOS design works by taking a systematic approach to the problems associated to to the Factory AOS and correcting/improving them.

The Factory AOS design is well known for failing of the flow control diaphragm, and the result is increased oil consumption, or excess smoking, and in severe cases engine hydrolock causing bent rods and cylinder damage.

When the flow control diaphragm fails in the Factory AOS, the present procedure is to replace the complete AOS. This procedure is very labor intensive due to the location of the Factory AOS, and involves hours of labor.

In the Ultimate AOS design, the flow control diaphragm regulator is moved to easy access at a location near the throttle body and can be replaced in a matter of minutes. The "Vortex" part of the air-oil-separator is left as Factory designed and drains the separated oil back to the oil sump.

As an additional design improvement, the Ultimate AOS, incorporates an Accumulator in series between the Vortex and the Flow Control Diaphragm Regulator. The Accumulator collects any excess oil in the crankcase vent system. Also incorporated in the Accumulator is an infra-red sensor set to activate an in-dash warning if accumulation reaches a dangerous level 177ml , indicating a fault in the Crankcase Vent System system and allows for operator intervention before any engine damage can occur. This feature will save engines from the threat of hydrolock.

The Infra-red warning feature is wired to the low coolant warning circuit, and will "slow flash" the red warning in the instrument cluster.

I took this this evening with borescope from the rear hatch. I'll try to get some better ones tomorrow if I can get a moment to get the car back up in the air. I'm guessing the port that needs to be filled is "just" blocked from view?

Will the UAOS work on a 997.1 C2? My AOS is on the left side (U.S. driver's side) at the back of the engine bay.

Thanks.

Yes, same engine as the 996.2

It will work if you have the 3.6 engine.

If you have the 3.8 (S) (M97/01) it will not work.

Was there a 3.8 in the .1?

Yep, the 3.8 "S" models were introduced in 2005+ 997.1

But the 3.6 was the standard engine all the way to 08 through the 997.1 range, the UAOS fits those.

Yep, the AOS port is right behind your sticker.

Since most people who are installing the UAOS will be doing so with a good, non-failed AOS as an upgrade/preventative measure,( no need to replace a good AOS) I'll try to focus on the best way to seal the atmosphere port... On Tips it may be best to just remove the throttle body and center front and rear plenum to access the Atmosphere port and hose connection.

The only real reason for replacing an AOS after the Invention of the UAOS, is that dirt would have entered the AOS and hose from the failed diaphragm. If the Atmosphere is port is sealed BEFORE the diaphragm fails, no dirt can enter the system.

As far as just replacing the AOS with a new re-woked AOS, that has been done so many times, there are good post already for that. On the 996.2 lowering the engine to the cross member and removing the drivers side intake manifold is the best way..

A very good article with pictures for installing the re-worked AOS for the UAOS kit on the 996.1 and 996.2 cars..

Skip, that would be much appreciated by myself.
