If you are happy with the motor mount install, you could loosen the clamps and adjust the tips themselves to get them properly oriented.

I like it. My version will include larger rivets and washers to back-up the mesh. Your mesh may push past the rivet heads with debris impact. If you live in a mild environment - your DIY looks excellent!

Thanks, cds. The only thing I could think of is maybe I didn’t have the nut in the slot on the bottom side. Everything feels right so I’ll check the exhaust clamps.

Love the Silver , w Grey top and Grey interior.

I had 986 S with same combo. It also was a sharp looking car.

Fuch's are perfect combo ingredient

What car do you like driving better at the track? How do they compare?

I dropped my car off today to get the major issues addressed. IMS, RMS, AOS, clutch and few odds and ends. It will nice having some peace of mind after this.

Cool Racing with Ferrari versus Porsche (it's all good)

There is nothing like a Ferrari on the track (this is my fourth over 20+ years). This is my fifth Porsche, and I loved them all especially my current C4S. Great fun to drive on the road and track. But the sound of the Ferrari engine right behind me winding up to 9000 rpm and the mid-engine balance of the car is amazing on a road track with elevation changes (the only car that came close in sound is my Lamborghini Miura's V-12). The Porsche is quick, but the Ferrari is scary fast. And with large diameter carbon ceramic brakes, you can take the Ferrari deep into every turn with confidence you can get the car slowed quickly to set up the next section of track. I have driven my Ferraris on several tracks across the U.S. (Indianapolis in the Formula One configuration when they were still running the US Grand Prix there, Watkins Glen, VIR, Sears Point, Thunderhill, etc.), and every track is a joy with these cars. Once you learn "the line" of a given track, it is like a smooth dance as you traverse the course.

You are smart to do the updates you did on your Porsche. I similarly had the IMS bearing replaced less than a week after I bought it, and it does give piece of mind. My 2004 C4S only has 21K miles on it so the other parts including the clutch were fine (my indie mechanic who has decades of Porsche experience said if it ain't broke don't fix it for those other bits). I wind up my C4S at every opportunity, and I know the engine can take it. I had a 996.1 Carrera 4 previously that I also had the IMS done, and it gave me years of reliable experience, and this current 996.2 C4S is behaving the same way. The German engineering in these cars (except for the IMS bearing) is bullet proof from my experience; just do regular PM service (oil change, etc).

I drove Indy's Formula One Track configuration just days after Michael Schumacher won the F1 race for Ferrari. They never let civilians drive on that track, but that year the Ferrari Club got unprecedented access to Indy by holding it's annual International Meet there. Attached is a photo I took of Michael at an interview before the race, and also a photo I took of Ferrari's timing screen where you can see Schumacher was at the top of the order. I attached a photo of my wife and I on the Indy Podium that Schumacher got showered with champagne on. I happened to get autographs of Mario and Michael Andretti that week. While we're on the topic of racing, I threw in a photo of me with Phil Hill, one of my racing heros and America's Formula One Champion.

Thanks, we just picked it up in March. It spent most of its life in CA and TX and now is cruising the mountains in CO. My first Porsche, 85.5 944, had real fuchs and I grew up with almost all 911s wearing them so I'm kinda partial to them. Here's a picture after I washed and waxed the car and wheels. If the rain holds off tomorrow I'll get to drive it.

I added 20 more valves.

But, but, that doesn't work with six cylinders; one might think.

And that would be true.

The head off one of my Audis needs to get dropped off at my engine shop. Other than that - I've been driving Speedy everyday, to work, for the last three weeks. I think I'll keep it.

Finally finished my AOS install...What a pain in the butt!
I did find the two missing sockets that I dropped during the engine install but, I knocked off the one way check (black n white) valve and it fell into the abyss LOL!!

Congratulations Bill! And now you will know what that plastic burning smell is after a good hard run.
