Just count it as a great memory that can be shared over and over at family gatherings.
Temporary rule in your garage... No bare feet until all those glass bits are vacuumed up. And just be ready to vacuum all the broken glass inside the door. If you don't get it all, it will drive your ears nuts. Like pebbles bouncing around in a tin can.

I actually don't know the cat manufacturer. doesn't seem to be any documentation in what I've received. I just checked the "200 cell cats" option when ordering.
yeah, there's about 1 mm on the driver side and 3 mm on the pass side between the bottom pipe and the muffler pipe. but there's some play in the bolt holes holding the mufflers to the car. so i'll adjust as necessary when the sleeve clamps go on.
I had to cut every single bolt and nut off the original system... so... wasn't too bad after I realized no amount of penetrating fluid and wrench-finesse would get them off.
for the header-to-cat connection specifically, I took a reciprocating saw to the nut side (header side)... the cat side then just pulled away.

Count your blessings Boss, it could have damaged the A pillar or the top (if it had been left up). That would have been expensive to repair. But relative to 90% of the parts on the car, side glass and the wind deflector are cheap to replace.

The genuine Porsche tank doesn't come with a cap. You have to purchase it separately, and it is blue. A couple of years ago I ordered a Genuine Porsche tank from Autohauz AZ and paid the ridiculous Porsche MK-I price (over $600) . However, they sent me an aftermarket tank that came with a black cap. That was my first indication that I had been scammed. Additionally there were no Porsche markings on any of the packaging. Previously I had used an OEM tank and that lasted a little more than a year before it failed. This is one area where you don't want to skimp because the job is a PITA to do.

As I was swapping the 986 to the 996’s spot for access to the lift (for an AOS replacement now underway), I discovered that the passenger side microswitch for the window drop has failed on the 996. Ordered a new switch with the intake boots and other bits needed to finish the 986 AOS. Always some new project on deck.
This was after replacing the headlight switch on the 986 and both MAP sensors for the 958 Turbo. Busy day.

Thrashed the 996 C4 up a mountain about 7 times. The new motor we built did great!
I went about 4 seconds faster today but the memory card was corrupted (!)
Don't lift!

New Airbag. Detail therapy.
I've lived with the horn badge missing two stripes for years, and decided to get the windowless car a "get well gift" to lift its spirits. Installed a "new to me" Airbag with a gleaming fresh badge in pretty much mint condition.

Installed the OEM 996 Turbo lower lip spoiler on my C4S. Garage is a mess. I'll post a pic later.
The part went on very easily with no need to heat it up to stretch it into position like with the ebay units. And it looks better, too.
Pro tip: When ordering online, the shipping is like $100 because it's an oversized box. Order from the dealer and it will ship to the dealership for free. Your total price will undoubtedly be cheaper.
For example, this one is $375 + $75 shipping. Pelican parts wanted $100 shipping.

While I was installing, I noticed a few leaves and rocks in the ducts to the radiators. I've seen people remove their bumper covers to clean those out. I just used a grabber tool and had it cleaned out in a couple of minutes. A LOT less effort than removing the entire bumper cover. Those grabbers are less than $10 on amazon or at local hardware stores.
