Default 997.1 3.6 Airbox....

My new to me 997.1 airbox arrived this afternoon from Rennpart. Could not wait to clean it up and get it into that engine compartment! Dropped a new BMC filter in there for good measure as well. I don't expect any real performance gain from the box itself although I can't stop staring at the silver PORSCHE logo! It's been bored and sleeved as a 3.6, so I love that the badge finally says that! Pretty much "plug and play" reusing the 996 snorkel. The 3.6 box (vs the 3.8) fits right in with no mods.

I have the 3.8L box on my 99 and no mods were required.

I have been tempted to. I have an IPD Plenum that is going to go in next, but I really am wary of visual smog inspections and police around here that write you for noise and everything else. I hear ya!

Luckily, it's an easy enough part to change... I run the silicone tube regularly and swap the OEM tube back on for a few days to get it smogged.

Just stuff a Mobil1 one gallon jug oil cap in the resonator part and leave the oem intake boot on. I ran like that for a while before I went to the GT3 plenum and intake boot.

I think I’ll try that thanks.

No, but they do write tickets for loud exhausts.

They do. They also inspect the car looking for mods. There are “loud exhaust” warning signs entering Laguna Beach. I had the IPD plenum painted blk so it does not stand out.
