What did you do to your 996 today?

Just bought my 996. Flew to Cincinnati and drove 5 hours back. Needs a good detail inside and out but overall a great car
Installed the function first shift ****. What a difference.
I had a 986 for a bit years ago and always hated the shifter and vowed to immediately fix that. Once I put the deposit down on the car I ordered a new ****.

Used chemical guys butter wet wax and put two coats on. Hand washed the car and dried it, then put it in the garage until the surface was cool. Applied by hand and used a buffer to remove and then buff. Repeated the application then drove it and appreciated the shine.
First Coat
Second coat
I really like this wax. It brought out a depth to the color and really shows off the metallic flakes.

I use a similar product to the Meguiar's stuff called Bead Maker, I'm a big fan of it.

Bead Maker is awesome b/c it goes on easy, it goes on EVERYWHERE (trim, moulding, glass, paint, etc.), it wipes/buffs off easy and it lasts for a few weeks. I use it as a drying aid.
Added bonus... It's slick as ice 24 hours after application.

Son/sun management
Not literally today, but...
1) Carseats installed for 2 of my 3 sons. Removed rear seat bottoms and backs, providing room and solid stable surface in the back for Cybex Solution X-Fix carseats. Plus a booster in the front for the 3rd kid.
2) Fixed the darn porsche sunshade that never stays in place - common problem I understand - it slips past the visors and falls down triggering the cabin alarm. Solution - punch two holes in sunshade, add two grommets, two short bungee cords, fold down the visors, fixed.

Great solution to the sunshade! Would one bungie looped over the rear view mirror work?

Yes, great idea. Using the rear view mirror as support was "Plan A"... but my bungie cords were too slack, so went with Plan B as pictured. But using the rear view mirror with a tighter cord, and/or different placement of grommets, could be a good option.

Three Wheelin'
Can't wait till my little one is old enough for the boosters, my stepdaughter can ride in the back but errands are gonna be a lot more fun when they can both ride in it lol.

Did a bunch of maintance on the car. New motor mounts (idle is now nice and smooth), new oil filler tube (thanks to me breaking mine while taking off the airbox), new belts, air filter, cabin filter, etc.
Also finished up a print of the first iteration of my wireless charging mount to go in place of the small GT3 delete piece. Making a few changes to better fit my phone. But this combined with bluetooth on the CDR makes me feel like the car is pretty much circa 2016. :P

My son took his uncle for a spin in my 996 not realizing he stepped in dog s**t. They drove about 50 feet and hopped out because about the odor. Guess what I spent doing the rest of the night 😝
