We designed and manufactured a newly upgraded 993 key fob remote.
It is a complete redesign with the latest technology available, but it keeps the original design to hold the car’s overall classic appeal and value.
As you can see it uses a Li-Ion battery for a longer lifetime. We added intelligent software features for ease of use and user feedback.
We'd wanted to wait longer before announcing this but we thought that it would be good to get your feedback right now. What do you guys think?
If are interested you can add yourself to the Waiting List for when we release these Upgraded Porsche 993 Key Fob Remotes. (We will limit this to 25 people in order to pay close attention to everyone's suggestions and concerns.)
As I said on the 993 Forum, please be clear on the advantages, why would I go this way rather than the tried and true Porsche FOB? I am not saying this is not worth it, but from your web site:
-Li-ion battery lasts 250% longer
* I get years out of my fobs and the batteries are cheap
-Intelligent transmitter (1 short click sends all the info needed)
* so does the stock one - what is the "intelligent" part - did I miss something here?
-Battery charge level monitoring - LED warning
* good feature
-100% compatible with the original system
* well so is the original system!
-Same Original Manufacturer look
* well so is the original system
The main pain is not the FOB, but the immobilizer - cure that and you will have a huge hit.
Thanks for opening up the conversation and bringing those points.
On price point I will know this Friday the 31st. It'll definitely be better price than one from the dealer.
In terms of the features:
We get 100s of key fob remotes sent to us from customers all over the world when we do 993 ECU jobs. We've noticed that the mid to low charge levels of the batteries they come with highly affect the range of the signal of the remote. So we always replace them to ensure reliability and consistency.
By going with a Li-Ion battery we can outlast a nickel battery by more than a factor of 2, and the price is still around $2.
We programmed the processor of the remote to remain active sending the signal to the car until all of the data is transmitted. With the original remote this is not always the case if you release the button too soon.
In terms of curing the Immobilizer, do you mean something along the lines of "removing" it?
If that is not what you meant let me know because I'm sure that we can offer or create something easily now that we have R&Ded the whole system so much.
I like the idea of competition from an ideological point of view even if my fobs work well. One doesn't really need a battery level indicator. The range decreasing from 15 or so feet with a fresh battery let's ya know.
If you need a new/spare, this seems like a no brainer. I assume you can diy program it into the ecu like the stock one. I for one am really glad and grateful there are vendors making things for (and repairing ecu's) our old cars.

Yes, you can still program is yourself, (or your mechanic can do it for you) just like with the original - the procedure is exactly the same.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. This is one of the things that we think about about often; how can we improve and innovate the technology on these cars, but keep it feeling and looking like an original classic?
