Default Stiff clutch

Hi guys.

The clutch is a lot stiffer than normal before I start the car. When the car is started it appears to be normal and there is no slippage. After I turn the car off, it becomes stiffer each time I pump it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

We just covered this about 2 weeks ago. I'll look for the old post.

Either clutch accum. or the slave.

that sounds like an accumulator, but from what i've read, if one fails, the other isn't far behind.

Accumulator is cheap at approx. $105
slave is about $600 plus labor

Thanks guys. Sounds like the accumulator. May as well do the slave cylinder as well.

..is one of TT's congenity problems. I changed both (accumulator and cilynder slave) almost four years ago. If one or other is fault, You must find some oil leak inside the front lid

Ciao Nicola

P.S.: You can use the car without any problems until change this stuffs.

Problem seems to have gone away today. I'm scratching my head on this one. Think I'll wait to see if it reappears.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Slow leak in the accumulator, probably bleeds down over a period of time. Works fine when car has run recently, not so good when it sits for awhile. Don't hold your breath on any problem "healing".

I've started to use it a DD until I replace the C4S I just sold. I'm getting the accumulator changed Tues which should solve the problem.

I remember seeing your GR 993 there when I had my car in for service. Haven't seen your TT yet - Lovely car!
Cheers,
Bob

Thanks Bob. I sold the GR 993 last year and saw it 2 weeks ago at a Sat GTG. It actually looks better than when I had it. RUF wheels and Terry told me he spent 16 hours detailing it. Good luck on your PPI. I think that Auguste told me a number of years ago about your S. Are you planning on keeping it after you move to the enlightened side?

Well, looks like I may have the same problem and didn't even know it was a problem until I read this post. The clutch is very hard to push until I start the car. I just figured it was stiff until the hydraulic assist kicked in when you start it. Thanks for the insight. I'm new to Porsche's so did not know any better. Is there a problem driving it like this until I can get it fixed (which may be a few months since we're in the process of a move)
