It was the accumulator. Switched it out and problem solved.

Bad accumulator is not a problem when driving. When car is off, don't pump the clutch ( why would you do that anyway? ). Pumping the clutch will increase the pressure and potentially cause pentosin leak.

Thanks. How difficult was this as a DIY? I'm reasonably handy bit not a mechanic. Messy job? Total cost? Thanks.

^Steve, I know diddley, but I'd be more than happy to come up to Milwaukee one weekend day and lend a pair of hands, if you decide to do this DIY. Let me know. Just needs to be sunny and rain-free! I can hold a flashlight, give moral support, and swear if you bang a knuckle or something.

Thanks. I just may take you up on it. May take me a couple of months to get to it but now that I know how the clutch is supposed to feel....well, it just has to get fixed. Would appreciate DIY post if there is one.

I don't DIY. Would like to learn some day when I have more time. Total cost was $450 inc $50 tax. Accumulator was $172. Pentosin was $37 and labour was $190 - 1.75 hours

It is but you may need to do some things to it. For example, after I put PSS10's on and lowered it, it's a different car. Original suspension was kinda loose I thought. I'm not sure if Terry had an 89 speedster but he has a real nice GR 993 now.
