Would I hate a 964T in comparison?

Indeed.
Requires more skill to drive quickly, therefore more rewarding to drive imho. AWD absolutely dulls the experience of driving a sportscar, no doubt about it. The 993TT is no exception.
I think you've already worked it out
Look I really like the 993TT, I just think the old single turbos are more fun to drive for all the reasons I listed above. The OP asked if moving to a 964T would be a mistake, I gave him the pros and cons. Compared to most other sportscars out there, the 993TT is much more raw and exciting - but compare it to a 964T or older 930 and it's clearly a softer, duller driving experience. AWD and the multi-link rear suspension can claim most of the blame there, imo.

964T vs 993TT
I dont know how far the search history goes back, but there was a very good 964T vs 993TT comparison done by a member on here about 4 years ago and it helped me to decide........................993TT, I went the safe root and I prefer the 993 shape and the lucious rear end.

You should check out the single turbo Ruf RCT at Ruf in Dallas. It's technically high miles but rebuilt down to the shell with Ruf parts. I got a ride in it and it was pretty spectacular. It felt very raw and very very fast.
I really like the Ruf guys too. They just sold me a great car.

I simply hate turbo lag and all the turbos before the 993 have it in spades. You couldn't pay me to own one.

That works out then, because I doubt you'll find many 964T owners willing to pay you to take their car

I know this could be blasphemy, but I'm considering trading my 993TT to get a 964T (3.6). Would this be the worst idea ever?
For some reason, I am always drawn to the 964T's lines over the 993TT nowadays. I originally got the 993TT I have because I was concerned that I'd be unhappy without AWD. I don't think that's true anymore.
Considering that there's none around here I can drive, can anyone give me any real world impressions?
Thanks!

Yes. It was Wayne's car and on R Compounds in the rain it was a little hairy and he was being gentle. Still a rock solid rebuild and a rocket ship.
I actually didn't buy a Ruf. They had an incredible deal on a 355 Spider and I bit. My perfect garage, a nicely track prepped 993 Turbo (which again decimated the GT3s at Gateway last weekend) for going fast and a 355 spider for going quickly and sounding like God's own chainsaw.
I'm done now. No more new cars.

I went from a 930, very raw to a 965 3.6 and was blown away by the performance and sheer fun factor. But moving up to the 993TT was the same leap again for me. Sure, some here will not agree, but with my driving ability, and Im not a fantastic driver, the TT is a superior car in almost every way.
The 3.6 has buggar all lag really, and nothing like the 930.
Personally I couldn't go back now to the 965.
The TT offers the full package. IMO of course.
