Default Would I hate a 964T in comparison?

I know this could be blasphemy, but I'm considering trading my 993TT to get a 964T (3.6). Would this be the worst idea ever?

For some reason, I am always drawn to the 964T's lines over the 993TT nowadays. I originally got the 993TT I have because I was concerned that I'd be unhappy without AWD. I don't think that's true anymore.

Considering that there's none around here I can drive, can anyone give me any real world impressions?

Thanks!

You wouldn't hate mine.

Keep the 993 and ADD another one of the air-cooled gems.

If you're going for all-out horsepower, the 993TT is the better platform. Then again a Supra twin turbo is even better than that, if you're just after big power. If you're going for the most fun driving experience, the 964T has it all over the 993TT. Lighter, better road feel, rear wheel drive, much more entertaining power delivery, nicer exhaust note, and imho the best looking car Porsche ever made.

I've driven a 550 bhp 993TT, and while it was extremely quick, the car felt a little muted - dead steering thanks to AWD, car felt a little heavy, and the power delivery while massive was very undramatic. Compared to a 965, that is.

Then again, similar criticisms could be levied against the 965 in the eyes of a 930 owner. And they would also be right. It's just about finding which car meets the right balance of comfort and feel for you.

i would buy a 930 over a 964t. imho the 964t is too much of a compromise between the two, the 930 really gives you that raw feel

Yes (Signal). It now lives over in Norway or Sweden.

Local dealer had/has a 997 Cab 2009 or 2010 (Signal Green) that he has been unable to move for well over a year.

Seems like the big single turbo would have lag measured with an hourglass.

Window maker?

But like the BTR I have driven, it would be an absolute hoot when the turbo kicks in!

I would keep the 993TT for the long run. But I am biased.

I must be missing something..............I have driven some quick stuff.......Aussie muscle cars, Ferraris and Lambos, every type on SUV known to man, race cars, rally cars and all sorts of lunatic things that people i have known have built looking for new thrills................where does this "dead" thing come from with the 993 TT?
AWD is there but you can hardly notice it........my TT excites the crap outta me at redline in any gear round any track you care to name..........I know there is faster stuff about and the new things I race against are all electro nannied up and any idiot can get em to go quick, but to call the 993 TT dead and boring is way outta my league. I simply dont get it. What do you think a 2wd old school Porsche will give you that a 993TT wont? There is some level of feel or daring or excitement that my overdose of track days and drive days is missing?
I have driven new Turbos, 996 turbos, turbos with 650 HP and standard turbos and turbos from the 80's and 90's...........they're all different and offer you lots of different things.........but I am yet to find anything, and I mean anything, that can deliver you at a corner at the pace a 993TT can do it to be "dead" or "numb" or unexciting!
Perhaps my threshold is too low????????????
Good luck with working this one out!

930 aint bad either but the 964T 3.3 unless its a flachbau or a 1994 "turbo 3.6", its not worth it.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of AWD, and have never found the steering numb in my 993TT. I guess that I always thought that I would kill myself without it, but now either have good enough life insurance to where I'm not worried, or feel like a better driver

You should check out the single turbo Ruf RCT at Ruf in Dallas. It's technically high miles but rebuilt down to the shell with Ruf parts. I got a ride in it and it was pretty spectacular. It felt very raw and very very fast.
I really like the Ruf guys too. They just sold me a great car.

Hey Bill,

I'm a huge fan of Ruf also. I keep the cgt there. Which car did you just get?
