Andial Closing
Just found out that Andial will close at the end of this month. Thanks for the heads up Greg. I'll get in for one last checkup before then.

Too bad, they are part of Porsche racing history and I know they will be missed. Lots of you socal owners used them I know. They built and developed some killer IMSA engines. Be nice if they had a t-shirt commemorating their history or at least printed something up for us to buy before they shut the door.

do any of you guys take your tt's there? now I don't know where to take my 993 for service, since I bought it that's the only place that's ever turned a wrench on it...

Andial's building has been purchased by PMNA to expand the engine building business that they have cultivated in the past years. Apparently no one has stepped up to purchase the business unless Porsche has done that as well.

I actually called them up friday to see what was going on- they're moving a parts type business into a different location in fountain valley, where I'm sure they'll manage to sell some brake cooling kits, suspension parts, and Row parts. When i spoke with mitch he was kinda bummed out, and said he had to go out and find a job now. So i threw a hail mary and i asked if it was too late for a 3.8 package upgrade- and yeah it is.
my question is- who's going to be able to work on those twin plug motors now?

An investor group made an offer for the Andial opperation, but it would have included the continued participation of Dieter and Arnold. Sometimes people just want to retire.

jay, what's up with this.
you must support andial more. why dont you do 3.8L to 996GT3 and 997GT3.
maybe do a 4.0L 997TT too ;-)
seriously though this is sad. i grew up reading all the cool cars andial has built, then finally got flogged in one, jay's 3.8L turbo at WS.

Former Andial Shop Foreman
As a long time customer of Andial (since 1987) and clearly impacted by their imminent closing, I wanted to mention that Kevin Kelly, a former shop foreman at Andial for most of his eight year tenure there, and who performed much of the actual "hands-on" service and/or modifications with respect to the 993's and 993 turbo's during that time, now works as a Porsche Technician for Newport Auto Center, the Porsche dealer in Newport Beach, CA. Although he may not be able to become involved in major modification projects, I would think that he would be able to undertake smaller upgrades as well as maintenance on all cars he previously worked on. It is my understanding that his current employer has no problem in honoring a customer's request for a specific technician to work on his or her car. The person to contact is Robert Guajardo (service writer) and the telephone number is (949) 673-0900 extension 2352.

Thanks for the heads up about Kevin Kelley. I was just at Andial a few weeks ago. I wondered why it was so quiet and slow. Dieter said nothing about closing, but I did get that letter from them last year regarding changing the ECU to make the 3.8 smog legal. That letter indicated that they were thinking of retiring.
BTW, I was at Andial because the new ECU was NOT passing smog. They ended up sending it back to Germany for a change: lowering the idle to 800, from 1000 or so. This did the trick, passed Cal smog after that. Dieter, Arnold--thanks for taking care of this.
LA area guys might want to check Callas Rennsport, Tony Callas. He did the work on my car for most of the life of my car, excepting the actual Andial build and subsequent adjustments.
Sorry about late post, been too busy to check in.
