Where to get sport cat cells inserts

Anyone welded in their own cells in place of the originals?
I was hoping I could open up my OE cats, remove the 400cell cats and replace them with 100's before welding them back up.
Maybe also insert a cone to improve flow back into the pipe.

I just did mine. Foreign Sports in LA. 130 cell cats made by Kemira (?) in Germany. Gemballa and Stop Tech use these cores. Opened up OEM cat, switched out 2 cores, and rewelded back up. Look totally original. Too bad I did not take a pic of the CAT cores side by side.
Can't help you in England though.
Good luck.

FVD lists them, part number FVD 113 999 20 for €265 each. They're 105mm in diameter and 100mm long.
Blackthorn Autocatalysts in Chichester (http://www.blackthorn.eu.com/) used to do them as well but seem to have got out of that market.

This is what im thinking too when going twin turbo. But like the 996TT style and just have two race cats bolted onto the turbo and then straight pipes and tips directly from that- must save some weight, free up some HP and sound pretty mean...

I sent mine to Kevin and he changed out CATS and deburred the enterior to make sure there were no obstructions. Attention to detail. If you are going DIY, remember that if you are off by a few mm at the cat housing, this will translate into cm at the other end. You may not be able to align all your bolts/screws/nuts. A jig is needed to maintain correct relationships on mounting surfaces when finished
good luck

Pram,
That's the pic I did not get to take. Thanks.
Tom,
Call Caludio at Foreign Sports (310) 394-0369, and describe what you want. He just put two of the 130 cell CAT cores in my RUF two weeks ago. I think he stocks them. I honestly do not know how much for the parts alone as they spent 7-8 hours getting the old ones out and the new one in. They are in Santa Monica, BTW.
Good luck.

Pram, thats a great shot of the 130mm cats vs stock. For those looking into getting 100 cell cats, this clearly shows how the 130mm ones completely fill out the housing, whereas the stock and non 130mm cats are smaller in diameter.

That picture was taken after Gunter and I started to build a set of 100 cell cats while in LA.. That particular set of cats was 30% plugged.. One also has to realize that with the larger 130mm cartridges, you do have alot more surface area.

I've just ordered a pair of 130mm 100cell cats from actperformance.co.uk - £220+vat each. I've got an engineering shop across the road from my office/workshop who can stick them in. I'll try and get pics of the process.

Hi,
A question to Kevin, and others who have done the race CAT mod.
I have 130 cell CATs installed on 2-20-2006 and had done roughly 400 miles since then. All freeway mileage coming home from LA.
Lots of rain since and had not driven it much for the last month. My question is: does it take time for the ECU (mine is an OBDII Motronics mapped by RUF in Germany) to 'learn' the down-stream flow characteristics and re-map accordingly?
If so, is 400 freeway miles enough, or I need more time/miles and mixed driving?
Thanks.
