RUN IN WITH 99 ACR VIPER
#17
A guy in my office has a 97tt with the Ruf R bolt-ons and was evenly mathched with a 05 viper from a 2nd gear roll thru 4th with the viper pulling slightly after 4th. The same car was beat everytime from a standstill by a new e55 until he hit 3rd gear. Can Torque be the reason??

FWIW a stock 993tt will do 100mph in under 10s versus E55 "over"10s - The Ruf Turbo R takes around 8 so there's something amiss somewhere

I never had a problem with Vipers in my TT (now Marc's) you sure youre not in limp mode?(.4 bar max). All I had was GIAC with bypasses, and mine would drop vipers without much problem. I did
not have Kevins turbos either. I got to agree with TB, You may be so mismatched as to be below stock. Sumthins not right. I had a dealer friend who had the GTS (500 hp) and I pulled him too.
and thanks for taking off the CAP locks.

Sorry about the cap locks, I was in limp mode before my greddy boost controller was hooked up.
Now under acceleration, the digital readout goes up to .8 bar quicker than before, and of course
does not read above .8 bar. I am going to install a separate boost gauge so I can see actual boost.
I seriously wonder about guys pulling away from new vipers with minor mods but clearly more
research must be done on my car to make sure it is boosting correctly. It is very fast, maybe time
to do the 60-130 test next weekend.

Marty the car still could slip back into Limp mode and you can be pouring the coals on with the Aux boost controller. The ECU will pull timing and try to pull boost, but to no avail due to the aux controller. Also, is it possilble to buy non-corn fed fuel? I know you guys like to help out the corn farmers in Nebraska and Iowa, there is better fuel out there..

Marty,
You need a bad boy like a Single turbo Supra to beat cars like Vipers and ZO6's remember most of the vipers are running 500+ horses at the wheels. It only costs $12,000 for a Supra TT to go from 320 at the crank to 650+ very reliable horses at the wheels
Any way i know how you feel and no one wants to lose esp to a Viper ( weight 3200-3300 lbs ) but remember it's all about the torque which our cars don't have esp on the low end.O don't forget the new Viper which is 500 hp/500tq and the same goes with the new ZO6 Vette 500hp/500 tq ( ?) and get this they both weigh around 3200 lbs so be carfull running with these cars.
Modding a 993 TT would cost you probably your right kidney so another option would be to buy a 996 TT as modding that SOB is not as expensive as a 993 TT and then go look for Supras,Vipers and ACR's.
Lastly don't feel bad losing to that Viper as sometimes you win and some times you lose,no biggy so relax and enjoy the car.

You picked the Vipers best element, after its hooked up. Forget all the dyno bs. Get a stop watch and run your car from 60-120 mph. If your time is 10 seconds you don't have 470 hp. You should be in the 8.8 - 9.8 second area for this acceleration test. If your not, you got no boost.
So many guys just bolt on stuff and expect it to work perfect. It usually doesn't. That why RUF and Andial are a little more expensive, their stuff works. The devil is in the details.
BTW, it is sooo much fun showing your tail lights to Vipers.
