Help! Failed CA Smog due to high HC at idle
All,
Yes - I used the search function but didn't find an identical problem with solution.
My 1998 C4S Failed hydrocarbons at idle (see below).
Fresh gas, oil change 2k miles ago, car was hot (oil temp gauge at 9:00).
Should I consider replacing injectors and O2 sensors or just run a tank with fuel injector cleaner through first?
The pass at 2.500 rpms leads me to believe the car (cats) was hot enough and the O2 sensor was working at that range...
Looking forward to hearing your feedback,
Brandon

Thanks il pirata & Steve Weiner; I replaced plugs and O2 sensors and hydrocarbons at idle dropped from 391 to 17. Passed emissions and back on the road.

Thanks for the follow up. I had elevated HC readings on my last smog test and am due again. If I do get a failure, O2 sensors will be in my future.
