This is the good ‘ol c2S vs C4S which one is better? argument.
I’m not sure how many others in here actually have owned both variants together at the same time. Or have owned one of each to compare, But I can give my unsolicited 2 cents from a very humble 4 year experience. I will take my 993 4S any day of the week and twice on Sundays over my C2S. No matter the minimal added weight and braggin rights aside. Not much to bragg about these days anyway.
4S Brakes and Suspension are better. Period. ‘Someone’ at Porsche decided 25 years ago that the Marketing push for the 993 2S was going to make it more desirable and “more valuable” than its 4S wide body sister. Add the $100 plastic rear twin grille lid cover and Presto! ROI multiplier galore. Again just IMHO, as an owner of both. Just a bunch of BS, the 2 S has no performance upgrades over a narrow body C2. None! Others will disagree which is fine with me, but as far as market markers moving forward during and after this crisis there is no way to predict it. We can only be optimistic. Recent singular BAT narrow body 993 result adds a micron to that optimism.

Actually, it's not about a C2S vs C4S argument.
It's about a WB w/ just shy of 64k in the odo asking $76k (which as I stated is a fairly attractive price to start, and understanding that the seller will take, say, $75k all day long); vs another WB w/ 43k on the odo and the owner is pondering if $75k is too much...

Now it could have been an maintenance issue or just my unworthy critique. Anyway if it is somewhat perceivable by others in an 1997 model, I am sure 23 years later Porsche has possibly refined the front drive system.

With all due respect your value opinion doesn’t matter, ie influence the market. Your use of the word “better” in terms of “emotional value” has no relevance.
With respect to your quote above, the 4S was introduced as a low cost version to the turbo for MY96 in relatively high numbers over a 3 year run. The C2S was introduced in MY97 over a 2 year run. While at a premium to the C2, dealer incentives brought the cost closer to the C2. Form the first 15 or so years the market value of C4S exceeded that of the C2S. Then about 5-7 years ago the paradigm shifted and the market shifted, valuing the C2S higher, where it remains today. Simple reasons would include a much lower supply of C2S’s and the purity/tradition of the RWD of the 911 heritage. For what most of these cars are being used for today, the “turbo brakes” are statistically insignificant and most suspensions have been refreshed.

I wonder what the reserve was. It’s a beautiful car, but the drivers bolster looks really rough for that mileage. I would probably take the $105k and run right now.
