This is the good ‘ol c2S vs C4S which one is better? argument.

I’m not sure how many others in here actually have owned both variants together at the same time. Or have owned one of each to compare, But I can give my unsolicited 2 cents from a very humble 4 year experience. I will take my 993 4S any day of the week and twice on Sundays over my C2S. No matter the minimal added weight and braggin rights aside. Not much to bragg about these days anyway.

4S Brakes and Suspension are better. Period. ‘Someone’ at Porsche decided 25 years ago that the Marketing push for the 993 2S was going to make it more desirable and “more valuable” than its 4S wide body sister. Add the $100 plastic rear twin grille lid cover and Presto! ROI multiplier galore. Again just IMHO, as an owner of both. Just a bunch of BS, the 2 S has no performance upgrades over a narrow body C2. None! Others will disagree which is fine with me, but as far as market markers moving forward during and after this crisis there is no way to predict it. We can only be optimistic. Recent singular BAT narrow body 993 result adds a micron to that optimism.

Actually, it's not about a C2S vs C4S argument.
It's about a WB w/ just shy of 64k in the odo asking $76k (which as I stated is a fairly attractive price to start, and understanding that the seller will take, say, $75k all day long); vs another WB w/ 43k on the odo and the owner is pondering if $75k is too much...

993C2S vs 993C4S

Before I bought the 2CS, I was half-way looking at a 4CS (half-way because it was black). When I drove it I sensed a pulling from the front wheels especially in a curve. Now it could have been an maintenance issue or just my unworthy critique. Anyway if it is somewhat perceivable by others in an 1997 model, I am sure 23 years later Porsche has possibly refined the front drive system.

Not a maintenance issue. You can feel the AWD working in the front in the twisties. It's subtle but there.

With respect to your quote above, the 4S was introduced as a low cost version to the turbo for MY96 in relatively high numbers over a 3 year run. The C2S was introduced in MY97 over a 2 year run. While at a premium to the C2, dealer incentives brought the cost closer to the C2. Form the first 15 or so years the market value of C4S exceeded that of the C2S. Then about 5-7 years ago the paradigm shifted and the market shifted, valuing the C2S higher, where it remains today. Simple reasons would include a much lower supply of C2S’s and the purity/tradition of the RWD of the 911 heritage. For what most of these cars are being used for today, the “turbo brakes” are statistically insignificant and most suspensions have been refreshed.
So a "low cost version of a turbo" is a lesser car than a RWD version that is closer to a C2 narrow body? and upgraded brakes are irrelevant? Dealer incentives everyone!!, make sure you step right in and get them in a peanut gallery close to you. .

Can somebody that actually embraces relevance please remind us 'lesser enlightened' about the 993 wide body production numbers on both variants C2S and C4S please? Stay safe everyone..RL never disappoints...

As supposedly the person who started this, my intention was to showcase why a WB w/ relatively low miles on the odo should be worth much more than $75k.

It was and still is not meant as a debate between 2S vs 4S. We're all united by our fondness of 993, so let's emphasize what we have in common.

Cheers.

Default Another Market Marker???

This may or may not be another 993 Market pointer. What’s up with the yellows?

This thing went RNM at $105K with 44k miles. Very interesting or too much seller optimism??

I wonder what the reserve was. It’s a beautiful car, but the drivers bolster looks really rough for that mileage. I would probably take the $105k and run right now.

The bolster wear just means the dude got IN the car more than he drove it.. it's 22 years old.

40K engine out service due to broken exhaust valves (picture 104), or do I miss something?

Strange that he rebuilt the engine at 44K miles.

Says it needed new exhaust valves. Surely needed valve guides, but not valves. Many 993's needed guides right off the assembly line as tolerances were off from new.
