Figure $74k out the door...
For a 70k miles car in this economy -- that's really not too bad

Hello all, this is a question for the knowledgeable collective. In quarantine browsing of Pcars I have come across cars with option codes that are not on the digital decoder lists that we normally use on RL. Specifically option code C07 and option code 850 which coincidentally is present on my C4S but I don't know what the option actually is and my 993 companion book is in storage, so if anyone has a quick reference guide here much appreciated. By process of elimination C05 is version for France so I am assuming C07 is of some other European country? This is very interesting. Thank you.

@WI-Ing Thank you, read too quick, it was 650 for Sunroof, not 850. Wondering why some option stickers do not have the code yet the car does have the sunroof. My C2S does not have the code but it has a sunroof. More of the oddities of late 90's Porsche manufacturing.

JAB12,

Sorry if this is not your point -

There is the Option List that's shown on the Frunk sticker, and also the full option list that can be obtained from other sources.

My sticker doesn't show 650 for sunroof, but an online decoder does give that option for my VIN.

@993_540 Yes, that was the point. my C4s notes the 650 option on the trunk sticker vs the C2S which doesn't and both have a sunroof. This just adds to the 911 Mystique of the 90's. They don't make them like they used to.

Yep...the car is pretty clean and very well maintained. Over $22K worth of maintenance, pretty much everything is new ...I though that for 70K plus $3.5K fees that included cross country shipping, it was a decent deal. Now I can't wait for her to arrive.

Is this a rennlist member's car, or does someone know this car? I was curious about the damage on the carfax. Seller says it was a scratch?

I would tread lightly, wish seller would post pics of damage.

I agree, The wording on his ad makes me think there is more to the story.

"With the goal of bringing this Carrera S to a concours-level, the seller had the hood, bumper and rear deck professionally refinished."

I have sold Porsches in the past. I know there are many schools of thought, but keeping it original is always the best, in my opinion. If not, take pictures of any damage so you have proof to validate your claim.

"Although the Carfax report does note slight damage under the previous owners care, an inspection performed prior to the seller’s purchase revealed that no damage of any significance was ever sustained".

Finally, if the guy had it professionally inspected, show the report of a reputable inspection.

Several years ago I wouldn't have been so picky, now, with the air cooled cars going at such a premium , I think the seller needs to justify the premium. Sadly, there is always a person that gets caught up in these auctions and either doesn't do his due diligence or doesn't care.

Just my opinion

More so the CYA language on these auction sites is what further disappoints: “the odometer ‘is said to have’ 44k miles” The paint ‘is said to be all original’ except hood, bumper and deck lid in an attempt to bring to concourse condition” ‘is said’ Really? Color combo is unique but don’t insult my intelligence please....

my C2S has almost 200k miles, has been windows out fully repainted and top end done twice. Both times and paint done properly. Still looks better than this. IMHO And no shame in disclosing her past if she is ever offered for sale. There’s a reason the print is on the Car Fax: minor damage. Regardless I wouldn’t shy away if good deal. Zenith Blue on Blue is a rarity.
