Great American 993s for Sale + Price Discussion Thread
#781
This car has been for sale for at least a year and a half with Udrive. It dates back to when I started searching for my 993. There's nothing wrong with the ask - especially for a dealer - so out of curiosity I emailed them last month asked why, at a (seemingly) fair ask, the car had sat for so long. I got the following reply:
This is one of my personal cars. I own the dealership. Although the car had been on my website, it was not for sale until this past fall. It is a beauftuf car and I have declined many offers. The market for air cooled cars, specialty cars in general, slowed last year. Due to the strong stock market, sales of specialty cars have taken off again in recent months. Feel free to call if you would like to discuss.Todd Myers

He's wrong about it only being for sale since fall 2017 - my notes go back to summer of 2016 so my guess is someone's not telling the whole story.
If you find anything out, be sure to let us know.

I'm pretty sure I remember that car for sale the summer of '16 too . I bought my car in June '16 and was looking everywhere for a driver car, that car was too nice (and too expensive) for me.
PS sometime you can find old stuff (currently not on website) using : web.archive.org , when I first used it was called wayback machine. Reference to Mr. Peabody's Improbable history ( they had a Wayback machine ) which was on the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon.
Just checked it out again and not as good as I remember.

I double-checked my notes.......
It is one of the very first cars I took notes on back when I started shopping for 993's late summer/early fall of 2016. I don't have the exact date when I first saw the UDRIVE listing but I can confirm that they lowered the ask price in January 2017 from $99.9K to $85.9K. So the statement that the car was only listed for sale this past fall is b.s.
The odometer in the current pictures shows 50,077. The odometer in the listing pictures I saved from 2016 shows 50,07x (can't see the last figure), so the car may not have traveled a mile in all that time.
Proceed with caution.

I completed the PPI yesterday on this car, but ultimately decided to back out of the deal as I found out it was re-sprayed. Message me if you want the results of the PPI.

Jay is absolutely correct. Back in the Holidays of 2015 I started looking at the possibility of spending my YE self performed and issued bonus on a Pcar and 993s were an option, the first 2 hits I got included this Arena Red aerokit. I passed since did not care much about the wing, but of course 3 years ago I knew nothing about these cars compared to now. My guess is ODO 'malfunction'😬?? I'm more than glad I patiently waited and got the 964 instead.
For that price I would personally get a higher true mileage C2S. There are a couple out there including the Blue/Tan I posted earlier in this thread.
Thanks for the cab chart jay.
Let's see what else pops up as Spring is here...

There are WAY more cabs than other 993s, which has to make them less valuable in general. Sometime in the past year I didn't buy (and still kick myself for not!) a no-stories PTS Linen 993 Cab with <25k miles for about $54k. So assuming no stories, I would assume a value in the mid to low $40s, but they are probably asking mid $50s. Please let us know.
