I got the following reply:

This is one of my personal cars. I own the dealership. Although the car had been on my website, it was not for sale until this past fall. It is a beauftuf car and I have declined many offers. The market for air cooled cars, specialty cars in general, slowed last year. Due to the strong stock market, sales of specialty cars have taken off again in recent months. He's wrong about it only being for sale since fall 2017 - my notes go back to summer of 2016 so my guess is someone's not telling the whole story.

PS sometime you can find old stuff (currently not on website) using : web.archive.org , when I first used it was called wayback machine. Reference to Mr. Peabody's Improbable history ( they had a Wayback machine ) which was on the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon.
Just checked it out again and not as good as I remember.
great tip! Can you message me your link, with the search string you used? thanks!

I double-checked my notes.......
It is one of the very first cars I took notes on back when I started shopping for 993's late summer/early fall of 2016. I don't have the exact date when I first saw the UDRIVE listing but I can confirm that they lowered the ask price in January 2017 from $99.9K to $85.9K. So the statement that the car was only listed for sale this past fall is b.s.

The odometer in the current pictures shows 50,077. The odometer in the listing pictures I saved from 2016 shows 50,07x (can't see the last figure), so the car may not have traveled a mile in all that time.

Proceed with caution.

That's the SECOND car I looked at back in '16! It, too, sat for a LOOONG time (Abreu motors, Ebay). Back then it had 40,010 mile. Just a couple hundred more, now.

Oh,..and Abreu's ask back in '16 was $89.9. I think it might have bounced around between $85 and $89 before it finally sold.

Jay is absolutely correct. Back in the Holidays of 2015 I started looking at the possibility of spending my YE self performed and issued bonus on a Pcar and 993s were an option, the first 2 hits I got included this Arena Red aerokit. I passed since did not care much about the wing, but of course 3 years ago I knew nothing about these cars compared to now. My guess is ODO 'malfunction'😬?? I'm more than glad I patiently waited and got the 964 instead.

For that price I would personally get a higher true mileage C2S. There are a couple out there including the Blue/Tan I posted earlier in this thread.

Thanks for the cab chart jay.

Let's see what else pops up as Spring is here...

Vesuvio popped up on ebay, one previous owner (Dealer selling now) with 72k miles. What do you guys think this is worth? No reserve posted.

That's another one that's been in and out of ebay for well over a year. Guy wanted $100K for it, now listed for $94,900. He is half here in Miami and half in NY, I have all his details if you are interested PM me. Original website for his cars is here: https://www.allthingsporsches.com/inventory/ That Vesuvio is the last one on the list.

it obviously needs a ppi but the carfax looks clean. Spent most it’s life in Cali and now Az.

There are WAY more cabs than other 993s, which has to make them less valuable in general. Sometime in the past year I didn't buy (and still kick myself for not!) a no-stories PTS Linen 993 Cab with <25k miles for about $54k. So assuming no stories, I would assume a value in the mid to low $40s, but they are probably asking mid $50s. Please let us know.

Like most other cars on the PCA marketplace, this one appears way over priced. A few months ago I considered (and kick myself for not buying it) a beautiful C2S (may have been '98) with all the great options in a special yellow with miles around 44k with an ask around $104k. The one posted above should probably sell in the $70s, but as Jay's chart reveals, as mileage increases, prices tend to flatten.

Now that sounds like a good deal! This one is listed at $43.5k, which sounds fair. Not a huge cab fan but I'm sure it's roomier than the coupe with the top down of course.

I don't think I'm going to move on it. Full details below https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...aff=share_text

Damn... that car is still for sale! I spoke to that dealer around 2 years ago when I was hunting for my C4S. I think he had that car then. At the time he had a Black 96' C4S with Aero II Kit. Pretty much what I was looking for. I found him to be arrogant over the phone. He wanted $110K for the Black C4S and had 33K miles or so on the clock. He said; "it was a clients and he could sit on it for another year and the price would just go up." At the time I think I offered him $100K free and clear no financing needed, wire the cash and done and he wouldn't take it. PPI of course FIRST before handing the cash over. Hell... he wouldn't even bargain with me. I think he was looking for somebody not asking about PPI. Something seemed off my gut was telling me. Then the car sat for over another year before he reduced it down to $95K and then it finally sold for whatever price.

People probably scared off by the accident history.
