Here's the C2S/C4S sales price data base sorted by model year. You can draw your own conclusions but there doesn't appear to be much of a difference between 96's, 97's and 98's. It sort of makes sense though: as the cars gets older +/- 1 year means less than mileage. There is the "last-year" factor but so far, that doesn't appear to add much value.

And here is the same chart sorted by C2S and C4S:

In addition to these reasons why there are fewer, think of all the 993s sitting in collections, rarely to see the road...or the market, until the time is right for the owner. In addition to Rudy, who it is said owns nearly 30 993s, I spoke with a dealer in CT who said he knew a collector who had 77 (!!!) 993s, though who knows the split of those between WBs and NBs.

Can't speak for the other models but Gabriel and Franz Have the most accurate records although not 100% perfect yet for early turbos.

They list turbos for 1996 US at 1190 units for the US and 106 Canadian cars
For 1997 they show 739 for US and 38 for Canada
There were 11 US spec X50 cars in 1997 and the turbo S's number at 180 US and 2 Canadian cars.

So that would be 2,073 stock US spec turbos and 182 US spec turbo S cars with another 11 X50 cars.

They need to make corrections to the wording but show 2,326 US spec C4S's and 1,765 S's.

I found Excellence numbers to be incorrect on almost any model I have researched.

What about the Myth about the 5 C2S Cabs assembled at Beverly Hills Porsche and the single one that was put together by the factory and stayed in Europe that sold a few years ago for €300K+? I guess none of these numbers coincide so we can just leave it at that these cars are a few amongst many, hence the price tag.

Wow: 30 and 77?? With the keesh it takes to keep them in pristine mechanical and cosmetic condition just holding them and storing them properly for so long is an accomplishment on its own. IMHO.

Those Beverly Hills Porsche widebody cabs do exist. I owned a white/tan one for a few years and sold it. I have also personally seen the Arena Red with light grey interior and the Blue tip.

You have owned some unique cars. There are always those unicorns we may never know the whole story about. What is the story on the build?

I have had several rare Porsches over the years and honestly, I wish I had kept a few of them. Based on the prices today, they would have made a nice retirement fund. I'd talk about them, but I don't want to hijack the thread.

That Beverly Hills cars were shipped from Porsche as regular C2 cabs. TheBeverly Hills Porsche body shop swapped out the regular fenders, side shirts etc. and sold them as special cars. These were marketed as the only "widebody cabs" made by Porsche. That was a little misleading since the "made by Porsche" was the dealership and not PCNA. These cars sold very quickly and at a high premium for the day, if memory serves me, it was a $25K option, or basically these cars sold for the same prices as a 993tt from the previous year. The body work was not done that well. You could see the rear seams cracking when you opened the doors. I was expecting something better for the money, but they did look nice.

Sorry to go off topic but I forgot you were from Jacksonville. I was just down that way for the Amelia concours what a great time with two friends winning awards.

You also sold me that set of Speedlines which we both wish we had kept.

I was going to remind you about the wheels, but I figured you still had them and that would make you smarter than me! Amelia was great, always a wonderful showing of Porsches. My son kept asking me, as we were looking at all of the air cooled ones, "Dad, why did you sell yours?"

Would have been nice to meet up. I had three friends showing cars, I spent most of the time with the 83 March Red Lobster car and the blue 356 speedster racer. my other friend had the #14 lownebrau 962. I got to meet all sorts of interesting people and racing legend idles.

I can't tell you how many sets of speedlines I sold and regret. I was offered at the time a deal I couldn't refuse for the wheels you sold me now in hindsight it was a mistake. Oh well.

I posted lots of pictures here if anyone is interested.

That is one great looking car! The rarity of it and what a great story behind it. Great photos too! Thanks for sharing.
