I purchased my '96 C4S barely 6 weeks ago and took possession of it only 4 weeks ago after minor PPI items were corrected by a reputable shop within seller's location. PPI bill was $1043.0 so that should give you an idea. I had three vehicle options to choose from at the time, A '98 C2S and the other was a '96 C4S as well different mileage and price points. I can tell you there was nothing soft there on any of the 3. I ended up buying this one because of the trusted service and ownership history, didn't care about mileage (86k) or very minor cosmetic issues. The car is 100% very well kept and sorted, the kind where you just bring your Driver's license and your sunglasses and just drive, for hours. That was more valuable to me than anything else. 1 out of 2 of the other cars has sold so far. The C2S hasn't mainly due to high price and 2 important pending mech. issues, that I found out from seller's shop not from seller.
So as I posted my inquiry earlier in this post and elsewhere on a WTB 993 post, what is the best choice you are willing to make? Pay more for a lower mileage pseudo collectible 993 S/4S that you won't be able to enjoy right away due to pending work after purchase, or fear of driving away its collectibility, or buy a higher mileage, high end driver with a little bit of a lesser price tag but that you can pretty much drive home when you take ownership of it if you so choose to??. Especially in my case that it was an out of state purchase. No one seems to have the clear path answer to that. And as I enter into the next stage either later this year or beginning of next (need to raise some more capital first) which would be to upgrade to a 993Turbo, this question I am sure will still linger. I mean if a 109k mile C2S can pick up $54k on an online auction, what can we expect of C4Ss and C2Ss and TTs a year from now? The more I think about it the more ridiculous it gets.
I believe I looked at this 993 in the fall of 2015, when it was for sale privately with its second owner. If it is the same car - its sale was facilitated by the great guys associated with SportsCarDigest.com - Trevor knows this car really well. Judging by the Guards/Cashmere colors, year, mileage, and the BBS wheels - it's likely the same 993. Replacement windshield if I recall correctly. Beautiful engine compartment. Strong gasoline smell (back in 2015) in the frunk.
Very long-term ownership - car originally came from the Chicago area, then to Atlanta, IIRC. The second owner really kept it up nicely. I'm guessing it went from the second owner to the third owner maybe 1.5-2 years ago, then apparently to this Porsche dealership.
Clean 993 came into local Porsche dealer today on trade. Got to it first because neighbor is salesman who took it in.
70k miles feels tight and drives awesome. 9/10 all around. Front has been repainted but no accidents.
Is is it OK for the same dealer to do a PPI?
All original except wheels.
What do do you guys think this is worth?

The 993 was really documented well ... lots of invoices detailing work done. It was maintained, when the long-term owner had it, by a really tremendous individual who knows 993s inside and out - he thought it was a really good 993.
This car has some issues.......... Steering Rack is leaking ($2,500 - $3,500 + 5-8 hours of labor) ... Transmission was replaced with another and not Original to the car ... read the description closely .....
I added a bunch more C2S/C4S sales from BaT and the 993 pricing thread and computed a new straight-line fit. Sales are from Sept 2016 to present. (Sale prices, not list).

16 of the 22 sales are C4S's, so they're really aren't enough C2S's to be statistically meaningful. My *sense* is there's not much difference between the 4's and 2's, but I have nothing objective to back that up. I'll try sorting what I have to see what it looks like.
One other thing to note is that with so few high and low mleage sales, the formula is most useful for cars in the ~40-80k mile range. I suspect the curve ramps up at the low end and flattens out at the high end, i.e, under-predicts low mileage collectables and high mileage drivers.

Very interesting data and thanks for compiling! It seems a well cared for (condition, service records etc..) C2S or C4S with 50-60K miles can still bring strong $$$$$

I have a incomplete database for C2/c4's I can send you if it helps. It's mostly cars similar to what I am interested in so there are very few ultra low mileage cars, cabs or Tips.
