Geez, for $6,900 plus shipping/paypal, I'd sell my speed yellow painted HB's at $6,900.

I remember thinking $3k for hardbacks was ludicrous. How dumb am I?

Bank to bank wire transfers do not use current exact exchange rates at $1.07/€ and will be higher at about $1.116/€ + $40 fee each transfer which equates to a $6900 total delivered.
Sorry to hear about the rising prices. I feel lucky to have purchased these before the price increase. I reached out to Waldemar who confirms that his prices have gone up by about $550 or so. According to Waldemar the cost of the 993 seat cores have increased dramatically in price, or are simply unavailable. Lart at Lart's Performance (another great seat smith) had the same lament.

I paid $5,300 shipped for my four way painted hardbacks. Leaving aside the wire fees, you should still be able to pick up a set of these for about $6,000. The seats are transformative - it's like getting into a brand new car. The car smells like leather and oil. What could be better?

Pricing is one thing. But the Waldemar seats have become much less predictable than I think they were a year ago. I gave 50% deposit 6 months ago and I still have no seats, no deposit returned and no communication. I'd like to believe that at some point I will get my thousands back, but so far not a peep....

Sorry about your troubles. Here is additional contact information. He was reachable on WhatsApp when I discussed his seats.

Good luck

This usually happens when a small business or hobby becomes a real one! It's difficult to turn a side job into a full time job especially when people are throwing money at you. Hopefully he rights his wrongs and delivers as promised.

Jonathan,

I'm very sorry, and disturbed to hear this. It doesn't sound like Waldemar. If you want to PM me with some details, I would be happy to inquire for what it's worth.

Thanks I appreciate the offer. I'll reach out. It may not be typical of him, or the way things "used to be", but this is really not a way to do business.

FWIW, he claims he has had some medical issues the last several months, most recently a broken foot from boarding.

I have purchased plenty of bespoke things, or services from experts in high demand. Where the original ready date takes twice as long, or things "happen" etc. But this was the first time that I gave 50% upfront of a good/service that was not built on time, with no money refunded, and no communication. I think I would feel better if deposit was due prior to completion, etc. But my $thousands sat with him for 6 months yet no seats, no completion date, etc. Bottom line, I hope my situation was a one-off, and I never doubted the craftsmanship. Several here seem happy. But my Spidey sense is that we are in a different situation now vs. a year ago. Yes there has been some kind of foot injuries, shop changes, etc. But then there should be money refunded, or communication, or new firm due dates, etc. At this point, nothing in this for me, other than to set expectations with Rennlisters about my experience.
