^^ Are those wheels a pain to keep clean? They look awesome though!

Ah, gotcha. I agree, body color on the full wheel looks better, at least on anything other than a black car. I'm a sucker for the look, having owned several early 90s Galant VR4s which all came with color matched wheels.

I learned a great deal going through the process of painting. I learned to be fluid in my paint gun motions and consistent in my distance from gun to part. Color sanding makes up for a less than perfect clear coat finish.

I also purchased 1/4" rubber welting from fleabay, to provide a more finished look to the job. Welting is the rubber bead around the RS tail.

p.s. I believe the RS tail to be a Getty design fiberglass iteration.

My original post is here, #439.With the tail in black, as I received it from the seller.

I would have done it but the car was in for alignment. You have to remove more parts on the Tippy so the alignment needs to get redone anyway.

Thanks for the compliment Allan.

I take it your inboard CV boots were split, yes?

When the outboard boots split, shops like to try to sell new axle shafts. There is a write-up on Pelican parts on how to replace the outboard CV boots without replacing the complete axle shaft.

Just thought you'd want to know...

They did all 4 boots for me with no drama. Yes, the boots were completely shot. I also had them install RS eccentrics to dial out some of the excess neg camber in the rear, per Bill V's suggestion. I haven't seen the specs yet but it looks like I will be close to RS spec on my alignment.

Got the engine back in after new LWFW and clutch, seals, etc etc over the winter...

Picture shows it about half way back up and in... went pretty smoothly with three of us balancing, etc.

Sounds like a competent shop if they did not ask you to replace axles due to torn outboard boots.
Are you, or do you plan to track your car?

No tracking but I do drive the hell out of it. Tippy is not an ideal track setup. My car is slowly evolving into the ultimate GT and that is how I use it. Last year we did Toronto to Quebec City and Toronto to Boston. This year maybe Prince Edward Island or Cape Breton. I would also love to drive Newfoundland at some point. Incredible roads and scenery out on the rock.

Finally replaced my front control arm bushings and ball joints. What a difference in feel at the wheel and reduction in the little shimmy at speed. Went with oem rubber, rs hardness (sport at ERP) bushing. I highly recommend elephant racing refurbish service for the arms. They replace the bushings and clean and refinish the arms and look like new for a reasonable rate given the hassles of getting the bushings out yourself.

I am sure every situation is different, but what was the turn around time for their services?

this was two weeks from out my door to at my door. However i think its notmally faster. I just planned poorly and waited till their busy prerace season was starting.
I would suggest to anyone to call ahead and get an estimate on turn around unless its winter.
