Installed RS motor mounts and my newly acquired group-buy Padkeeper.

The mounts are a huge improvement, and the Padkeeper works just as advertised. (Forgot to take a picture.)

Installed the Rennline heater block off plates today. I don't use the heater in SoCal. I followed the same DIY instructions everyone uses for the heater bypass tube. Feels good to save some weight!

I pulled my spoiler assembly in getting ready to install this non-OEM, RS wing. The wing will need paint, but is in very good condition and fitment to start.

In the photos, the wing is just sitting in the recessed tray, holding an RTV'd gasket I just installed. Existing paint needs to get scuffed primed, and painted the color of the car.

I will be using touchupdirect aerosol can, with a urethane clearcoat.

P.S. Does anyone know if I can I use urethane clear over the eco friendly water based paints?

Finally got around to installing HIDS from Tore. WOW, what a difference! (And super easy mod)

Then, when I went to replace the hood emblem seal bc the emblem just didn't look like it sat correctly, I discovered that one speed nut was missing and that it was being held by a single speed nut and double sided tape. Thx, previous owner!

Def a must! And don't forget LED gauges too. All are easy to install and make a huge difference.

I finally got around to installing the Tore HIDs I bought last year too.

Here is a pic halfway into the install with driver's side HID and passenger side stock halogen. Pic doesn't really do it justice, driver's side is even brighter than it looks here.

In an attempt to cut down on outrageous amounts of pad dust in easy street driving, I put on a set of Centric PosiQuiet Ceramic pads ---- based on Pdaddy's experience. I did not remove the calipers --- jammed a 3" thin metal scraper between the pads and the spiders and took out the calipers after separating the OE pads and the spiders.

I sprayed the back of the Centrics - 105.06090 and 105.06080, with permatex aerosol blue anti squeal stuff and put the pads in and kept the spiders because I am like to make things hard.









Those spiders suck - if I may repeat what has been said 1000x.

Also I put on a nice set Adaptec 5mm spacers in the front - they are huncentric with the neat three-tab arrangement. It is a subtle difference and brings out my front wheel from 18x8.5 ET+52 to 18x8.5 ET+47 ... looks nice. This was suggested by DickinTN as he had the same wheel at ET+45 and wished to push the wheel in by about 3/16".

I drove the car up and down a couple of hills for 6 miles using the brakes, but doing so moderately. No shakes from the spacers! However, there seems to be a modicum of brake dust in those 5 miles. (Wiping finger for 3 inches on the wheel lip yields a finger tip that looksas if someone printed on it with 35 percent toner) Perhaps the dust is all the old accumulated dust from the rotor holes / etc .... maybe Ill try washing that out and seeing how that goes.

GBX, I have no idea, as I have crawled all over the wing looking for Mfg. marking. The wing is fiberglass, well finished, and very stout. I'm looking forward to prepping and painting.

Not quite a "today" thing as it took a while to plan and execute but 4 "put a huge grin on your face" mods went in recently

1. Re-geared my G50/20 to closer ratios. In the (long) time I have owned my 993 I have determined how and where I like to drive it and bringing the gears I use most frequently closer together makes it a different car IMHO. Gears were sourced by Matt Monson at Guard LLC and the box built by Bob at RMG. Both are outstanding to work with. Matt provided valuable guidance in choosing the right ratios, patiently iterating with me over multiple configurations and giving me honest advice. Gears were truly built to my specs. Bob is meticulous and has built a G50/20 or two
   
2. Installed a Guard LSD. Very noticeable on throttle-on coming out of a turn.
   
3. Installed Fister Stage IIIs - Darin was awesome to work with, turning around the mufflers quickly. About that sound Let's just say I am wearing a beanie so I can drive around with the windows down all the time
   
4. Had the fan and housing refinished by Mark Motshagen. A true craftsman and absolutely worth the wait.
