Thanks. I've never been involved in engine work that deep & had no clue.

What I read it was supposed to be prying via sheer force while watching out for the recoil that might hit your face..
I used a screwdriver, wrapped in a microfiber towel, to remove the boot and a screwdriver, pushed from the back, to remove the shift pattern insert.

The rootwood shift **** uses a set bolt to secure the ****, I believe the standard shift ***** just need to be pulled off.

Pedals install. I guess my brand new OEM P floor mats are not going to be great for this....

Changed the oil and made up a "hands-free" IV for the refill. (Tired of worrying about filler neck overflow - which for some reason I often manage to cause no matter how patient I am.) Not this time!

Took the 993 for a warm-up drive, then got it smogged (here in California). Passed easily.

Yes, OEM rootwood shift ****. I purchased the insert from Joe Jackson (member here), he has brushed and polished aluminum inserts. There were three tabs that I cut off, was easy work with a dremel. After that it pressed right in, had some residue from the leather insert that I didn’t clean out. Seems to be doing a good job of keeping it in place.
