Got my 16yo son behind the wheel for the first time ...
993pbug... That is so cool. You're making some great memories for both of you. All four of my kids first car was a stick and in another 4 years I'll be teaching my granddaughter to drive a stick.... in the 993!

Promise I won't tell anyone....did you wait until your kids were 16 and had a permit or license...or did you start sooner than that? If so, how and where? (I.e. parking lots, back roads, etc.?)
My father, A"H, used to let us steer, starting around age 12, but that was in the days of bench front seats. And then I am sure we started driving on roads around age 14 or 15 in a stick.
I have a very responsible girl who will turn, I can't even believe I'm writing this, 15 in a few months, and she's keen to learn to drive a stick.
Curious, which MT do you believe would easier/better to learn in, 993 or 981 Cayman?
Seems to me that 993 is definitely more analog and therefore likely easier, as it's more raw.
I have a 96 993 Targa (mil. 40,400) here are the Hawks part #:
HB141Z.650 (front)
HB170Z.650 (rear)
Pads I had were all original, did the unglue trick by prying the back of the pads with a knife.
I haven't had a chance to bed in the pads, I'll be doing that sometime tonight; some Porsche owners have good results with Hawks, that's the reason why I went with it.
Good luck
