No, F17 also provides IGN 12v to the CCU. But if all you want to do is disable the spoiler (without tripping a warning), just disconnect the 10 pin controller connector under the dash.

For some, the simple mod is just to open the spoiler ECU and cut the pin 12 (speedo input) track at the PCB. The ECU then functions just manually. Done it many times.

Would completely disabling the spoiler be advisable? Wonder if the mechanical parts need to be moved every now and then to prevent age-ing out or being stuck.

Thanks for the step-by-step instructions. I just did it on my 96 and it worked perfectly.

Mine still works perfectly after all these years. There’s an audible click from the module in the passenger footwell when the spoiler reaches full up/down position, even while driving
