Default Yokohama Advan AD08 closeout

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ty=2&tab=Sizes

Great price for the older version, replaced with R.

should show as $696 for 225/40-18 and 285/30-18 combo.

Last I looked there were 9 225/40-18s and 5 285/30-18 s.

Great price for those... Mich Pilot Super Sports would be a better wearing driver tire but hard to beat the warm performance of the AD08's at nearly $300 cheaper... plus the MPSS's dont come in 285/30!

I'm shopping for summer tires for my new DD right now...the pricing is all over the place...
225/40/18-$119
225/45/18-$228
245/45/18...what I want-$238
285/30/18-$229
295/30/18-$378

Appears that only certain sizes are at closeout pricing, crazy price difference between almost identical tires.

edit...just did an on-line chat with a TR rep. Seems Yoko is no longer making certain sizes of the AD08, so like the 225/40/18 will be no longer available when current stock is gone. Big discounts are only applied to those specific sizes, not across the entire AD08 line.

Check those DOT code dates on those close out tires. Could be 2-3 years old.

Tirerack is not gonna sell outdated tires. I've used them for over 20 years

The AD08 is a awesome tire! I was getting about 8-10kmi out of a set while also using them for Autocross. Last set I wore the fronts out the same as the rears.

For $700 a set (WB fitment) that is a STEAL! YOU CAN NOT GET a better tire for this price. I don't need tires right now, but I'm going to buy a set anyway.

Yes, TR will NOT sell you old tires.

True in a way. Depends on how you define "outdated" and your personal threshold for such. Here is a very recent example:

There are other threads/complaints like this on Rennlist if you search.

They are good in the rain and cold, I think better then the PS2's, but not as good as the Conti DW.

i ran this tire on my 997 C2S and my only complaint was the road noise. i've run many brands of tires over the years and found this non-linear design to be one of the loudest i've used. great grip, fine in the rain, good wear - just noisy. everything i have run since, on that car and others, has been noticeably quieter on the same roads. no question the price is good - if your size is discounted.

Unless you have your tires installed right at the tire factory, right when the tires come off the line, the first time you go for a drive your car will fly off the road and explode in a terrible fireball. Truth.

I just spoke to Damon about their Advan AD08 closeout and he told me they only had three (3) 225-40-18's left in the country........and now they only have ONE. I bought two fronts and two 285-30-18's for the rear. Apparently they have a number of rear sizes left......but the wide body fronts are gone!

You'll get a lot of opinions here. However, there are a lot of owners here, including me, who swear by Sumitomo. Excellent performance in the dry and wet, quiet, long mileage, good ride quality, and best of all......fantastic price. Not the best track tire but you don't need maximum track performance. The Sumi HTR ZIII's are the way to go. I am very happy with the Sumi's on my C2S and just bought some Yoko's specifically for track use. But for street use I'll keep the Sumi's.

Cheers.

Neal (filling in for Damon) was able to locate one more front somewhere so I have a full set on the way too.

Thanks for the thread Kika!
