Default 'AlloyGators' Wheel Rim Protectors…Anyone got 'em?

I just found this on a U.K (British) website for the above mentioned product ..if they work as described then they might just be a must have….Has anyone on the forum tried them?

It's a British company... so it's .co.uk for the extension.

Interesting product. I prefer the don't hit the curb method myself, but this looks like it would work.

Interesting concept. Not sure I would want it on my Porsches but maybe for a commuter. Didn't know anything like that existed. Thanks.

To save people clicking on bad links, here is a pic of the product. BTW, I would not use this product. Common sense and extra care when parking is much cheaper and looks a lot better, IMO.

Yea, the colored ones look bloody awful..but the black or silver almost disappear when used on similar colored wheels. I have MY02 rims on my 993 which I powder coated black and they look great but somewhere out there is a kerb waiting to inflict some damage….if these things work and don't screw up the tire or handling I would be interested

When I parallel park on the street, I try to get my car as close to the curb as possible in an effort to avoid traffic sideswiping my car. Every once in a while, I cut my margins too thin and either scrape a tire or wheel against the curb.

So you never ever scraped or rubbed on a curb?

I find, especially with the wide bodied cars, and wheels that stand proud (like RUFs) that there is a magnetic attraction to the curb surface that tries to suck the car over and make contact. I can fight it off 99.9% of the time, but that 0.1% is a bugger...

Cheers,

Mike

Seems like an interesting product. Never knew they existed. I would think if you bought the black, they would be almost invisible.

I clipped the apex too tight the other day on a right hander downtown. So tight that the curb actually unsettled the car and I had to counter steer a bit. The people in the crosswalk were not amused (kidding!)
Seriously though, curbs (or kerbs) happen.
