girls driving 911s...
My wife was the inspiration for the article in this week's E-brake (I've included a link below for those who don't subscribe to the newsletter), so here's to all our girls who drive 911s...

Nice article, Pablo. You are lucky to have a wife that appreciates cars! Contrary to popular belief, it is not as common as you think to see women driving Porsches in CA and if they are, they are usually water pumpers and Tips. Seeing a woman driving an air-cooled is a rare sight indeed (I've only seen it twice). My wife drives a 4-door E36 M3 (manual) and she says she gets eyed all the time. I told her she is every car guy's wet dream. You just don't expect women to be driving sports cars, let alone sticks.

Thanks for the kind words gents.
Mark, you're right...we need to see more of this perspective. I wonder how many girls on these forums have any kind of Porsche.
Busta Rib, you wouldn't believe how much easier the upside pedals make it for her to feather the clutch with heels...as if they were designed for such a purpose.
Andreas, you must be a fan of Speedmasters...a man after my own heart.

Kosmo...she's totally organic. What other car besides a vintage Columbo-engined Ferrari possess such a quality? The raw mechanical sounds, the fact that she's hand built, the soft sensual curves in all the right places. The 911 is sculpted like a beautiful woman...especially a 993.

As I've mentioned many times before, I had plenty of women owing Porsche customers in the '80s AZ desert. Many with 911s. Only thing different now is that people in general in their 30's aren't wired to want to own a sports car--I'll suggest that if there were a Rennlist 30 years ago we'd have 2-3X the participation.
I'll go totally OT and ask about the CBGB days, especially in light of the movie out next month. Wish I'd gotten on a plane when I became of age to see for real what I could only read about and (obviously) hear on a record.
(And next time maybe a bit more reserved mention of lift throttle oversteer, or not, on even 993s.)

That is awesome! My wife is actually the one that got ME interested in 911s. Something very sexy about a woman driving a rear engine air cooled car.
here she is blasting up Hwy 5 last year in the 993.
James Dean approves! YIKES, look at the price of gas last summer!

Right on Kika, I LOVE those shots and I couldn't agree with ya more about girls and air-cooled Porsches...
Ken...those were the days when CBGB's spawned legends; the real down and dirty lower Manhattan where creativity was bursting at the seams. Now it's just a bit too Disneyland-ish. Don't even get me started about the Fetish/S&M and Swinger's clubs in Chelsea...yea, those were good times!

We did make it out that way a couple of years ago (dined at DBGB), and imagine my surprise in finding a John Varvatos retail store in the spot. The clerk did suggest we check out the infamous bathroom.............
