Hey Michael, glad you are safely home, what a journey. My wife and I had dinner with Darin Fister and his wife last night, your trip was a main topic of conversation. I guess I just missed you on July 3rd, I stopped by FDM to pick up some parts and Darin said you had just left. Anyway, thanks again for the vicarious adventure. Cheers, Paul

So what was the total # of miles traveled?

Also, my wife wants to know if you are a teacher or just took 2 weeks off or what that you could take such an awesome and long road trip. (I sensed a 'you could take more vacation' aspect to this question but that's another matter.)

Excellent thread!!!

I'll pick up the gauntlet next.... I'll be driving my 993 from Seattle to Washington, DC starting on about 20 July. I leave Rome for Seattle on 15 July, then spend some time with family before getting on the road...

I already am getting 4 new tires installed and alignment done, just wrote the shop to have them put three extra belts in the car for me - after seeing your travails with a thrown belt - and a looking to see what else needs to be packed in...

Great. Enjoy yourself and make sure you have the star tool and large wrench(24 mm I think).

Also, fill up often in the west just in case.

Cheers

Thanks again to everyone for the comments. As I type this, the car is disabled.

The engine fan bearing is shot and the fan is scraping the shroud. No worries though. The car held itself together until I got home. It is a good friend and traveling companion.

New fan and bearing are on the way! I will be up and running again in a few days.

Perhaps I should write a 1 year recap about the car since so many things have happened since the purchase a year ago from a guy in Michigan by the name of Slim.

I don't know if I want to know exactly how much money and time I have spent on the car.

Money? NEVER add that up.

Time? Just add up all the good times......the majority of this trip for instance!
