Darin, you mean to say you couldn't have put a plug in that tire after you straightened the frame with that hammer?
I hope the car gets a complimentary wash!
Good luck for an uneventful rest of trip, Michael!

Really enjoying your trip report, Michael.
My wife and I just completed a 4,000 km trip, and my car looks just like yours, in Darrin's shop.
A report will follow yours. And now, out to the garage to have a close look at tires.

Michael, I would call the place that did your alignment and see if they have the kinematic tool. If they don't, I would have it realigned before you drive back and trash another tire. Just my $.02.

Day 9: San Francisco 0 miles
Today was another non-driving day. I spent a lot of it kicking around Oakland and Berkeley looking at records and some cars and eating great pizza.
Amoeba records was high on my list and I found some things I didn't even know I was looking for.
After that we went by the beer making shop to pick up supplies. The owner offered me some free beer so why not. I can't refuse beer at noon.
Then we went by a few garages that keep their doors open on nice days. Both of the places let us look around.
The first place, Laurence Anderson Co, works on/restores Alfas and other vintage European cars.
Right next door, the Patrick Otis Co is restoring a bunch of Ferraris. I know next to nothing about the cars but the mechanic and manager said the models in the photos are all very rare. I guess any old Ferrari is already rare.
After that, we hit another record shop. 1-2-3-4 Go stocks mostly punk rock. A band was doing an in store. We missed them. The store managed to separate me from more of my cash.
Because we were in the area I had my friend drive by the East Bay Rats Motorcycle Club headquarters. I have read a bunch about them and was curious. Luckily no one was there to give me a hard time. Maybe they would have let me walk through and take pictures like the Patrick Otis Co did. Doubtful.
The rest of the day was filled with food, coffee and beer. Another good one.
Tomorrow I pick up the 993 from Darin. Can't wait.
Thursday the blast back to Chicago begins.

The pics of the 2 shops bring back fond memories from my last trip there! I lingered for hours and got some great pics in the process. Safe travels home.
