cheapest and best add ever
Hi guys. As a new 993 owner, I could not be more please with this forum. I thought I would share the cheapest and best add-on I did when I owned my Cayman S. I painted the shift **** embossed numbers with a toothpick and a bottle of Testors Guards Red enamel paint.
Use toothpick to fill the channels; no need to be too careful, just fill it and have a (slightly) damp sponge or paper towel to wipe to top off - it removes the paint on the surface and comes out pretty even. Keep a bit of paint remover close in case you flub it up. Testors had other colors too...like speed yellow.
The red carpets are not for the purist, and the red seat belts are old news...and the red leather wallet to hold my registration is downright gay. (in hindsight) But the shift **** gig is neat-o.

Another way to do it is to use enamel 'Paint Pens' with a fine tip, you can get them through eBay from several places or Micheal's craft stores. There's a basic kit that includes red, yellow and light blue :-)

You guys STILL need the numbers?
Interesting idea and it seems to work well with the right color scheme. I guess a good thing is that the wear will be minimal since the paint is below the surface of the shifter ****.
Cheers,
Mike

Love the matching wallet idea - maybe that would help keep me from losing my wallet in the sea of black, does that match your shoes too? (J/K of course!)

I love this stuff. I added speed yellow leather to my car -- shifter boot, door panel wedges. All of it was kitchen table projects. Colored gauge rings look great too!
Shifter - great idea, I'm on it! Should I paint the end of the odometer reset button while I have paint in hand?
