Rear discs, yes, the originals were "borrowed" for another job . Front discs, no, they have only done 8000 miles and are fine.

Whilst I was on vacation last week Marc busied himself by fitting the oil tank & thermostat and working on the cleaning / assembly of the exhaust system and rear heat shields. It has to be said that it makes life a lot easier working from a pile of 8000 mile parts. Next door Neil flatted off the lacquer and took the buffer to the bumpers to shine them up like a National guitar (as it says in the song....).

Today it was rear bumper time. Heat shields pre-fitted to the inside of the bumper, it takes two to hold the PU in place, feed the wiring loom through the right side inner wing, flex the panel and pop it into place over the alloy beam. Nice.

It lives!

Took Marc a while to bypass the drive block system (due to a missing control module & fob) only to find that we had no fuel because the fuel injectors were gummed up as a result of the years that the engine has stood idle. The injectors were removed and cleaned this morning, refitted and engine now fires up on the button. All we need to do now is burn out all the residual oil from the inside of the exhaust, hence the smoke.

Marc and Richard then took a look at making the custom 993 Speedster wiper arms.

You would like to think so, but the reality is that I had to wait for the smoke to clear to get close enough to take the photo.

Thanks Robin, with Marc on the job you just know that "better than new" is the only option.

Hi

I saw this car last weekend in person. It does indeed look absolutely fantastic. So clean you could eat off of any part of it. The colour was great and worked really well. There was an interesting looking strut brace waiting to go on. I meant to ask what make it was, but forgot.

Sorry for the lack of updates over the past few weeks only I had to cover for office staff on vacation and did not have the time to run around with the Nikon, however it's back to normal now so please expect the usual service until completion.

The project stalled for a few weeks whilst we were waiting on the delivery of the interior and our new prototype 9m-KW 993 HLS Suspension package. For those of you who do not know the KW product, this is their high-low system which raises the car by 35mm at the touch of a button to clear those pesky speed bumps. Naturally there will be more information on this later once we have the hydraulics installed.

OK, I hear ya.

Here are a couple of extra photos of the KW HLS suspension and the Speedster having a temporary wheel alignment check whilst rolling on a spare set of my 993RS wheels. We can't do the final set up until the car is fully finished and fuelled up so we used the Hunter DSP600 to confirm the accuracy of the shell by measuring the wheelbase and offset of the wheels. The good news is that with the wheels pointing in the right directions the measurements side to side are within 1.0mm, so we think that answers our questions. :-)
