Default PPI - Everything on car was great, except..

It has an oil leak. Garage quoted around $4000 to fix...

Question, I'm getting a great deal (rock bottom) on this car. Should I demand the seller fix it 100%? I think I know the answer to that question..!

Oh and get this. The mechanic went ahead and did the compression test without calling me about the OIL LEAK...

Trouble is, the "oil leak" could just be from someone over-filling it at last oil change or checking the level improperly, then "topping it off" with a quart or two. It happens all the time. Can you get a second opinion or are you confident with the shop doing the PPI. Anyone nearby who could stop by and do a "RENNFAX" for you?

Now I don't trust these guys as it is, they should have stopped and called me once they found an oil leak. For some reason they just went ahead with the compression test (after they found a leak), knowing SOMEONE would have to pay an extra like, $300.

Not sure there's anything else I can do, but walk.. and ONLY pay for the PPI, 2 hours tops. Opinions?

probably 90% of air cooled 911s leak oil from somewhere. If you can't identify where its from, then there is not much we can tell you.

Why not ask them to send you a pic of where the leak is?..If it's from the right side going on top of the heat exchanger, then my guess is still with an overfill.

I'll ask for a pic. Seller is going to pick it up and get it to his mechanic for a second opinion.

Mine has weeping at the chain cover, and on the passengers side valve cover...never seen a drop on garage floor with lower engine cover off. Supposed to be an easy DIY to remedy. Maybe it's just something like this...

Now here's the situation I'm in. The mechanic is going to want me to pay for a compression test for the seller to get his car. NO F'ING WAY I'm paying for anything more than 2 hours.

They should have called me after the found the leak and BEFORE they went any further on the test. Thoughts?

Agreed.

Really you could just walk without paying anything except the PPI charge you agreed to. It's not your car, so what can they do to you? You can fight any charges if they try to bill your credit card.
