A few have done this on Rennlist, I believe it was MikeJ's original idea and I think it's one of the best looks. Downside it requires you to trim the plate, but it does look very clean, especially if you use a bracket. Simply drill holes in the bracket and zip tie from behind - a bit tricky but easily doable.
^^^I did something similar. I bought the custom Inventiva mounting option but where I'd need to drill for the mounting screws is right where the tabs are that hold the grill to the Turbo bumper, so as a temp fix I ziptied just the plate to the grill. I've been running it that way for awhile but it's kinda cheezy looking. Knight's solution is much cleaner, though I wonder if the local popo (or WaSPs) might find it objectionable to actually cut my plate.
I like the trimmed plate but I would lose the decals and that would be the next ticket.
I bought the rennline shiftknob just now. Oh and I got the improved fully adjustable plate holder too! Of course the reason I was on the site....that's right.
One of the local guys here, Steve, went thru this ordeal about a year ago. He went a few years on his previous car with no issues, and within 24 hours he was ticketed twice for no plate. We had a long discussion here regarding different options. Search "Steve96C4S" and see pics.
Will the thread of the Rennline towhook mount fit the 993?
I was never pulled over here in Illinois just for not having a front license plate but I did receive a lovely note from the Rozzers, inviting me to make a monetary donation to the empty coffers of my state, as a result of the lack of a front plate on my beloved vehicle when it was parked in a public facility.
The Rennline option would work well for those rare occasions when I had to park on the street (oh horror) or the airport or nonsense like that....

My state requires a front plate, so I've studied Mike J's repeatedly.
Instead of cutting edges, I folded, then covered with clearbra.
[Caveat: possible that bottom should ideally be >12 inches above ground, & face shouldn't be angled. ...Add that to your endless mod list.]
Regarding air flow, no negative aspect, IMHO. IIRC, neither oil cooler nor A/C compressor are impacted in the center.

Just purchased a front plate bracket that screws into my tow hook opening on my 993, from USMillworks.com. Very fine quality! No affiliation but I like the quality and looks of this piece. Looks nice on the car too. They have to fit several models.
Yep, the revenue collectors were out in full force on 288 Saturday. Passed one each time I hopped on the highway.
I have a Rennline tow hook mount on my car and like it (as much as one can like having a front plate on their car). I'll try to make the next C&C if you would like to check it out. Just out of curiosity, what was the damage from the ticket?
^good thread, serves as a reminder to put on my inventive plate which is still in the packaging. Only pulled over one time so far in PG by a state trooper on the way to AX.
