Narrow Body in an exceptional color > Wide Body in common color. Color being the same.... Wide Body > Narrow Body. Just one persons opinion but color would likely factor into the selection process.
I agree with you! I'm currently keeping my eye out for a (second) NB in an exceptional color!!!
To me, the proportions of the WB look too fat, period, but the real aesthetic problem is that the rear bumper doesn't line up with the rear fenders/wings - the designers were obviously constrained but that extra bump and ridges on the rear bumper make it look like an afterthought.
ETA don't get me started on the sills
Too fat? 1.5” on each side wider than the NB. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Turbo Body on a N/A car.
I've always thought the NB had beautiful curves, but suffered only in comparison when side-by-side with a WB, and only in the eyes of someone who favored overtly sexy over elegant. Anyway, this NB even has "S" in red on the right rear fender.
Haha, funny to talk about NB vs WB after so many years and after so many threads. I guess it just doesn't get old. And of course I have to jump in!
I own a NB. WB is certainly noticeable. I saw a WB on the freeway recently and it catches your breath. Beautiful. But I also agree that the NB is a taught, proportional car and also is stunning. Side by side, yes, very noticeable and yes, sometimes a WB can look at bit "too wide". I also like the fact that 993RS is based off NB. Form following function.
But I see why WB is so desirable. In this scenario, can't go wrong either way. It's a 993 and it's the best of the best. No matter NB or WB!
The picture from Gbos1 above comparing WB and NB is very telling when the 2 cars are side by side, something I did not realize. The NB looks so tiny while the WB looks like it means business.
I believe that bone stock all original NB 993’s with the OEM engine under tray’s intact, running N rated tires, and using only manufacturer recommended lubricating fluids to be the superior example of air cooled automotive perfection.
Just took me almost 12 years of enthusiast modded 993 WB ownership, to realize the mistake I made as a younger man. I only hope that I live long enough to right that horrible wrong.
Look, ALL 993's are awesome- they are THE most beautiful 911's every made. I can say that as I am on the 993 forum NOW- to the OP- let's get real. What's your price point as that's gonna drive the decision on WB or NB- yeah there are crossovers on mileage, unique colors/options, etc- but all things considered, the WB's are selling at a premium- so what do you want to PAY? They are all awesome cars - we have all been there and made our decisions. I am looking forward to your decision- but will say this- if you have the dough, buy the BEST 993 you can buy- regardless of NB/WB. All solid cars are going to do well! If this is an investment, well then- that's an entirely different question- but they all drive well and are super cool.

HA- no ! LOL. I was actually in the passenger seat of the car rolling down the highway and killing time reading RL. I wasn't paying that close of attention- but either were the few people posting ahead of me! LOL. nonetheless- my statement is accurate for anyone looking for a 993 so who cares.
NB is the more balanced car to my eyes. The proportions just look better to me.
The widebody needs more front fender to balance things out. The turbo wing does help soften it some in the rear but I still want just a touch more out front for balance.
FWIW I own a widebody.
This is true!!! Was set on a WB C2S until I looked at the proportions…
NB C2/C4 is more balanced, ie. Porsche should have increased the C2/4S front fenders width….They did not for cost control I’m told.
Subjective still, but have a look and most will get what I’m talking about. If you’re all about the rear view only without looking down the side of the car then, you’re good….
Objectively, who has the measurement for front fender width/track comparing C2/4 with C2/4S?
