I took a picture for you, the engine is under assembly so not all there.

A flashlight and perhaps a rag with solvent on it to wipe surfaces is in order.

The numbers are on the right side of the engine as you face the front of the car, right at the base of the steel strap that holds the cooling fan down.

Porsche cars in North America has a service where you can pay for documentation of all your cars numbers, does Italy have the same?

Hi Geolab, hi gentlemen!

I found your topic by chance and google!

I bought the new Bentley publication on the 993. Then reading that book, I checked my DME number and went to the PET to see what version it was... My 4S X51 has a number 993.618.124.81...
Didn't find it in the PET! So googled it and found your outstanding posts!!!
Thanks for sharing Geolab. Those infos are the first ones I find on my car caracteristics.
Greetings from Belgium.

A very interesting and informative post. If Porsche fitted 3.8 slip -ins, what's the problem (with road use)?

Here's a link to a post about the rust problems on my 993. It's on the Porsche Club Ireland forum.

I have seen a European '95 X51 993 C2 car which had the 300bhp non varioram engine.....So this is obviously not the 993RS engine, I assume it is probably the same engine as used in the 964 3.8RS (not the higher output 964 RSR).
