Tony at Autobahn Upholstery in San Diego quoted me an extra $250/seat for the added metal welded in and sport seat foam bolsters. I'd bet it's a bit cheaper when you get away from the coasts ...

As for me I LOVE them and will never own a car with out them

If anyone has a set for sell send me a PM

now THERE'S a set of pics. Rolling thru those will always put a smile on my face, no matter what's going on in my life. Thanks Rudy

My C4S came with standard seats with the draped leather. I am not a fan of either the apperance of that leather, or the stock seats. I drove the car home 4 hours in the stock seats, and bolted in the HB sport seats the next day. For me, 5'8" 180lbs, the HB's are more supportive, and more comfortable.

The look, especially when the backs are painted...is pure sex to me. My car is Arctic SIlver, but the HB's are polar...I think the slight contrast really works with the now black seats and alu bits and pieces I added.

HB Sport seats were a must have for me, and fortunately I found this set from the same shop that maintained my car for it's previous owner.

You can see the added tube stock in these PET shots. 911 seats from at least '86 on and 944/968 standard seats will work if you're getting them rel-upholstered. I think the best candidates would be the later 944/968 seats to keep the exterior hardware a match to 993's ... My '87's were heated! :-)

I completely understand, the aero kit is a personal preference but I wouldn't change it because my car is exactly as it was ordered through the exclusive program.

I think you are pretty accurate with your est. market value. My car has 37k miles, alum. guages, aero pkg, sport seats, motor sound, litronic lights, most being desireable options and it would take very high 50's for me to part with it.

Good luck with your search.

When I drove my '96 C4 home from Philly (1,200 miles), I was amazed at how comfortable my HB seats were (are). No squirming around, just solid support & comfort. Like all sport seats, they don't fit everyone, but I love mine.

What is an acceptable $$ figure for reupholstery? Has anyone gone this route before? Curious to what the final $ is compared to picking up an oem set.

I think $1400/pair for high quality leather with perforated center cushions is what Auto's Int'l and Autobahn quote for 993 sport seats

Yes.. Granted, those prices are 2011 vintage, but I thought they were very reasonable considering the quality of materials and craftsmanship those shops produce. And they're both in San Diego.. road trip?

I checked with autos international and they do not weld. Left a message for autobahn but have not heard back from them? I called Byron (really nice guy, BTW) from Finishline Interiors in San Jose and the cost of reupholstering a set of '80s Carrera sport seats to 993 stitching pattern is around $2500. If you have regular seats and want to convert them, he prefers to order OEM frames and not weld. I seem to remember a fellow Rennlister (in europe?) back in 2010 that documented his conversion of comfort seats to sport seats. Can't seem to find the thread now. Anyone else remember reading that thread?

Is there a large interest in these seats? Group conversion?

I'm interested. Keep me in mind for the group conversion. I've only seen Hard Backs in marble grey come up once on Rennlist and it was during 2008 stock market drop. Wish I had the extra cash then.
