+1 on the early soft back sport seats... If you can find some... Very comfortable and supportive.

So we need all the parts mark described plus the frames, is that correct? I spoke to the guy that does my 964 sport seats here locally, I showed him the sport seats on my 993 and I asked him if I will get him all the hardware will he be able to convert my regular seats to 993 sport seats, he said yes so I need to get all the parts together, so I'm going to order p the list that mark just put up plus the frame, does anyone has the frame part #? And it's that all I need? I just picked up the sport seats this guy did for my daughtres 964 and they look sharp just like my 2 other sets he has done for me

1st picture is the set I picked up today
2nd is the set he did for my 1990 964
2th picture is the set he did for my 88 911
Will post pictures as soon as the 993 set is done

opo: Have gone through this twice (successfully). In each case got the new upper frames. HOWEVER, I believe that the standard frame could be used, based on the following:

If you look at the 996 seat frames for the hard back sport and standard comfort seats, the frame is similar. I re-dyed some 996 HB seats and the seat backs bolted to the center of the upper frame. There were no side support brackets behind the bolsters. My thinking is that the hard back extrusion is enough support for the foam that the extra support is not needed, and that Porsche came to the same conclusion. Hence, no additional bracket on the 996 HB seats. I didn't choose to try it on the two sets I had done, but am going to try it on a test set in anticipation of getting a 993 without HB seats.

You may want to ask your guy what he thinks (after showing him the detail on the two 996 seat types. You will probably have to improvise a bracket to screw the hard backs to, though. It will save you about $1,000 by not having to but the new upper frames and mounting parts.

Great pics in this thread!

Does anyone know how 996 sport seats compare to 993 sport seats? Is the price difference due to comfort or mostly based on the limited availability of 993 seats?

Are there any other companies offering new covers for 993 hard backs. I have been offered a set that need recovering and I am attempting to figure out what that will cost.

Someone posted some black heated sport seats on the SF craigslist this morning for $6500. The prices on these things are getting crazy.

Sport seats look nice, especially color-matched but anything over $3000 is too much IMO. They are not that comfortable and there are so many other options that look just as good and are 10X more comfortable/sporty such as the Recaro CS Sportsters.
