Here's mine. I added yellow seat belts so painted the hard backs I think would be overkilled! :O)

have the HB sport seats, and although I wasn't sure I'd like them, I do now. The bolsters are higher in the seat bottom and the 'wings' at shoulder level keep your torso in a better control position during aggressive driving. All of my P-car buddies would swap theirs out for the HB’s in a heartbeat. They have to really tighten their seat belts to keep from sliding around in their seats. HB’s don’t really have that problem, and with a stable upper torso, your steering and shifting are easier when you’re whipping the corners.

Someone commented that they suited to a narrower framed person... I concur with this. The seat bottom is tight. I’m 6’3” and 190lbs with a 34” waist. Perfectly snug for me.

Another poster commented that the seat back is a bit uncomfortable, I also have this issue on longer drives and recently have noticed that my seat back somehow fell out of 'square' with the bottom... the seat back is at a slight angle towards the driver’s door. I suspect that somehow one of the ratcheting joints where the back meets the bottom came out of synch by 1 notch. I intend to take it apart and adjust it back to a ‘square’ position.

My ’97 C4S came with them, along with a bunch of other cool options.

The absolute best option...especially if painted body color. I hope to look for another 993 later this year and it must have HB's

It's been posted many times here .. the early softback sportseats (MY'94 until Spring '95 production) are probably the best for comfort and support and they're fairly easy to find for 964/968's which are the same seatframe, cheaper than hardbacks and many shops now convert standard seats by adding the simple metal supports onto the the stock frames before re-upholstery. Shot of a 968 Cab .. same seats as 993.

^^^Exactly. The early 993 sport seat, used by Porsche on many models from MY 85 through early calendar year 95, were awesome seats and VERY supportive.

Both my cars came factory equipped with hardbacks. I like the looks but the standard seats are slightly more comfortable (my opinion) and almost as supportive.

You are right Tim, the soft back sport seats are very supportive, I enjoy this type also, being 5"11 and 200lbs they hold me pretty tight, I installed this in these cars

Wow, those look super comfy and grippy - good for long trips. Do you find the side bolsters grip a bit too much in the kidneys?

I've done th 15 hour trip from Ottawa to NS about 20 times over the last number of years, mostly in my old GTi, and a couple times in the A3, or other random cars, and once in my 911 with hard back sport seats, after having it on the road only a couple months since I bought it. I had been a little concerned how the hard backs would feel over such a long drive. Well, AWESOME! Very supportive and comfortable for me. I am 181 cm, 70 kg ( err, 'bout 5'11", 155 lbs).

So about how much does that cost?

I had a set of sport seats which I traded for my Cobra Misanos (bad move, but I wanted a light grippy tilting seat). The comfort was good to me, about the same as regular seats. Support was not great. Looks are fantastic. I have spent a lot of time (~7500 miles driving hard in europe) in the softback sport seats and love them.

I want some 993 speedster seats. . If I didn't care about weight, I'd want RSA cloth softback sport seats.

Yes, it's my only complaint about the softback seats when I had them in my '87 Cabriolet. On long trips .. like 4+ hours of driving .. I would get a back/side ache from them gripping me right at the Kidney level. Maybe if I'd laid off the dead lifts at the gym..? other than that, they were perfect, as good as the Scheel seat in my 914-6 track car.
