Default Insight on buying a '95

After lurking on rennlist for a long time and dreaming of my finding the right porsche, I'm considering buying a '95 cab with 85k

For those that have owned a 993 with similar mileage, can you tell me what repairs you needed in the 85-100k mile range?

This car seems pretty well maintained with records from new and has had the wiring harness recall done and steering rack recently. Anything else typical at this mileage?

Thanks!

One more thing...there is no remote/keyless entry. Was this available on '95s?

Not available on early 95's but was on the later cars.

Factory retrofit no but there is a member here named Tore that makes a unit that is very popular and easy to install. I have it and am very happy with it.

Yes, it is an easy install. You can get it from Tore here http://www.bergvillfx.com/ It is called the T Lock. I love it. Here is a link as well https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-easy-diy.html

Default T lock

I can confirm that the T-lock is very easy to fit on a 95.

95's are the best

My 95 came with power door locks. Never gave it a thought. If mine uses the T-lock, all I can say is, it works great.

The first things that come to mind would be the age and condition of clutch, and 90K service. 95's are great cars.

Take it through a car wash or hose down well and check for leaks on floor boards. Have about 3k set aside for undiagnosable surprises that will occur. Try to get seller to be very specific about oil consumption. If a dealer they won't know of course.

Thanks for the info. It just had the 90 service. I saw the car after a torrential downpour and it had dry floorboards (new top). No record of a clutch replacement though, so ill keep that in mind as well as the oil usage.

Do '95s start without pressing the clutch pedal?
I saw it on a video the other day, where the car was started twice, with the person outside the car, just turning the ingnition key.....
I thought all 993s only would turn on if you'd press the clutch pedal.
Thanks.

Most important is a leak down and compression test on engine.

Search the forum and you will find plenty of info.

My late 95 actually came with Drive Block... Remote entry.

Why you adding it? Many are having issues and trying to get rid of it.
