The 997 will burst that 993 bubble
I'm starting to see 997 prices dip into the upper $30s. This is going to drive 993 prices down toward more realistic numbers as the 993 has been over-inflated for far too many years. I think the 993 is a gorgeous car but for that kind of jack I can have a car that stylistically is every bit as nice but with exponentially better performance. As far as the air-cooled novelty of the 993, hell, I'll just keep my 964 around for 1/2 the price of a 993, and only marginally less of a performer.

Well 996's have dipped even lower,as have Boxsters, and I don't remember it affecting prices. Hold your breath if you want, but I think I'll just go enjoy my 993

You know your post would be better received in the 997 forum right? lol
I disagree.
I am looking to enter the Porsche world and my budget is a "sorted" 993 or early 997. It's a no brainer to me. The 997 is a nice looking car, a better performer as you say, but zero mystique. I have no doubt in 5 years thae 993 with be worth the same, the 997, less.

But look at his post history
And the last line of his first post in this thread
This thread is simply to affirm his 964
Great 911, the 964
But he has an agenda
Of some sort

That's just it, I'm not holding my breath, I just exhaled. Like I said, the 993 is a gorgeous car and up until recently, I used to slobber over these cars, but the fact of the matter is the 993 has benefitted from the mechanical shortcomings of the 964s and the wretched looks of the 996. But the 997 is the ultimate redemption-superior performance with beautiful styling.
