The 997 will burst that 993 bubble

Schizophenic, is what I say, looking at all of those quotes.
BTW, where the heck does he hang out?- "And every porsche nut I came across ripped on everything pre-993 and everything post-993." What Porsche nut says that? A 993 nut maybe, but your average P-car enthusiast certainly is going to have more favorites.

Typical sour grapes logic. Can't afford a 993 so I'll just get the one that Porsche made to look like a 993.
BTW 997s are also far "superior" to long hood 911s. But have you seen the pricing delta between the two? "Superior" does not always mean faster, bigger, more bells and whistles. My 993 is superior to a 997 because I find it to be more engaging and demanding.
Did we spoil your weekend yet?

I like all Porsche models. Some I like more than others and some I even love; like the 993. Everyone has their own opinions. It doesn't matter to me if the value of my 993 goes up or down and it doesn't matter to me if the value of the 997 goes up or down. I will continue to drive my 993 because I love it and not because it has or will increase in value.

993 market has nothing to do with the 997 market.
lets not forget that 993 is air cooled and discontinued.
The 996 sank in price while the 993 did not.
997 will continue to sink however it may rebound based on it being a good car and short wheel based when compared to 991.

This is more fun than pulling pig-tails on the playground. If my knowledge of porsches is so "non-existent", than how am I able to elicit such provocative responses. Oh, and thank you all for the ad-hominem attacks. I thought we were above that here.

Anyway I'm an ex-997 owner...odd huh?

So much gnashing of teeth over monetary value. Do you all remember when you were kids and you loved what you loved because of its intrinsic value, instead of what it would sell for? We have became a society that puts a price on everything, and then weighs the real value on that.

Good and well maintained 993 will keep their value. The 997 will continue to drop in price like 996 and Boxster because they are water-cooled mass products. At the end, time will tell and I do not worry about it until I want to buy or sell.

Why do you guys come over here in the first place? I've never read a single post in the 996 forum.

I have no plans for selling my Porsche. It's not my mid-life crisis car - I've wanted a Porsche 911 since I was in high school and now I've got one. I don't care about the value - it's not an investment. If I wanted a good investment I'd buy Twinkies - not a motor car.
I drive my 993 to work, to the supermarket, to the mall, and to the twisty roads in the hills. I never walk away from my car without looking back at it. Every day I catch a different angle and think "wow, that's an attractive car and it's mine!"
I'll leave the thoughts of used market values and depreciation to the Ferrari and Lamborghini owners. They seem to ration their driving out and think only of the person who's going to own their car after them.
