Default Cup Holder Reviews

Am looking for a cup holder and came across this at Pelican. User reviews are 1/2 good bad (bad being poor fitting issue).

Anyone use this on his/her 993 and comments/feedback?

Thanks.

I have one I used on a cross country trip. It attaches to the left passenger seat rail and works well. It slightly reduces forward travel on the passenger seat and is easily installed / removed.

After much research, I ordered one of these yesterday and will post feedback once I've installed it. I chose this one b/c it's inconspicuous and it fits larger size cups (up to approx 3.25" - 3.5")

I also have one like that. It works good, easy to install and remove. It was in the trunk when I bought the car, at first I was not sure what it was. The dealer thought it was a engine part, LOL.

This is the one I have:

I have that holder and I find it works very well. It holds a wide variety of containers securely and within reach. My wife really likes it too.

It does limit travel, but I generally don't put the seat up that far.

I have one too, it works fine & I can't see someone having a negative review on it?

It looks good does anyone know if it works with a fire extinguisher mounted under the seat?

I had the Passat dual cup holder for some time (installed by PO), but it didn't hold bottles well even under moderate cornering. I always had to fish for them under the seat or foot well.

Now I have a $2 plastic cup holder in its place that I got at AutoZone - http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=125533_0_0_ It works OK.

This does seems like the best choice. For $50 it had better be!

Pelican reviews below (have a hard time w/ the one actually saying thanks to Pelican... )

THE GOOD
Comments: HIGHLY recommend if you need a cup holder. This is a very nice quality piece. Easy to install. Easy to reach and out of the way. Now my water bottle won't fly off the seat. Love it!

Comments: Wow, I can't believe I lived without a cup holder this long. Easy install, works great, works great.

Comments: Put this in my 1986 944, and it works just fine. It's expensive, but it looks better then the other cup holders that are out there. It's also bigger then it looks on the site. Thanks again Pelican!

THE BAD AND THE UGLY
Comments: Rubber inserts were scuffed and finished poorly
Locking screw would not thread through and required re-tapping.
Expected a little more for $50.

Comments: Installed in 81' 911SC. The cup holder part is solid, the clamp is cheap metal that doesn't fit into the grooves of the slide, wiggles side to side. It was expensive($50) so I expected more, very dissapointed...

Not with my home-fabbed setup, but that's just because i ran the bottle fore-aft, not spanwise.
Seat rails rest atop the Al plate and would allow use of the holder and a spanwise mounted Fe if fabbed correctly.
I can typically wedge a cup between the seat and the FE for short trips.

I have the Inventiva Concepts version. To make it rock solid, I run the screw down into the allen/hex bolt head of the seat rail bolt. That keeps it from moving forward/backwards even if the screw loosens a little.

Mine had a crappy plastic top to the screw, which eventually came off, but a trip to the local industrial hardware supply store and re-tapping the hole fixed that...and i have a much nicer screw top (looks like what the Pelican version now has).

I have the Air-1 which work well. Mine doesn't have the rubber insert and the top of the screw came off, but it's just an Allen screw with hex recess so it can be tightened/released as any other Allen screw.

I have one and like it. Of course when I was having the car detailed, they tried to pull it out without loosening the screw, bending the screw...

Might not be their fault... I'll bet they just ran the electric seat all the way forward when working on the backseat. The seat rail then jams against the aftermarket cup holder and bends the screw. Ask me how I know... No way the detailer would know to look for this.

I have one on mine. It works better than the one on the 991. What an astoundingly helpful forum this is...I mean, 15 posts concerning a cupholder!
