1998 C2S w/ 15k miles on Ebay

Am I the only one noticing two sets of gauges in the Ebay ad photos? One the standard set as in my '96 C2, showing 14,719 miles and one (actually two photos of what may be the Carrera S gauge set) showing variously 14,562 and 15,000. 15,000 plus 14,719=?????

They all look like the same gauges to me --- one picture was taken at night and the pictures with earlier mileage were probably leftover pictures from the last time the car was for sale.
I think some of the comments about this seller on here are a bit out of line - anyone purchasing a 993 should absolutely do their due diligence but there's nothing here to suggest this car isn't exactly as described...

How can expressing ones opinions about evaluating a CarCheck be "out of line"?
The original owner called me today. The current owners brother, that would be, called to ask how I would have specked the car from new.He wanted to know what he missed. He did not say anything to me about being out of line whatsoever! Where do you people come from and where do you get off?
What I can say is that Mark is a nice guy who lives in Miami. He does not like music very much.He did not think the cars AC was up to the task and he does not know much about Porsches. He also is amazed at "how much interest there is in a 14 year old car".
Because I liked him I am not going to share anymore of our conversation. We did talk for almost 30 minutes and I sent him some copies of my 993 CarFaxes.

Some are getting hung up on bad photography and accusing true low mile cars as having "bad seats" or worse, that car and seats are being misrepresented. Unless you perform your due diligence and physically inspect a car, be it mine or another, you cannot proclaim to know.
Here are a few more close-ups I took back in December. From the photo the seats may look "old, cracked, and / or otherwise worn" but I can promise you, they are new as the day they were manufactured, soft, and supple.

The irony is that "in person" my seats look brand new and never sat in. There is zero wear. The lines you see in a photograph are shadows from the natural peaks and valleys of "Real Leather". The leather in the 993 is unlike that of any of the newer Porsches I've owned in that it's got deep grains and very interesting variations. As the 993 brochures and other official information detail, the leather used is a natural product and thus has irregularities, such as where the animal may have been bitten, and upon close inspection you can see these little "marks" in the leather surface.

Ron, my comment wasn't meant as a criticism of your car at all! My C2S interior was mint, but showed the lines that you are referring to. I'm in the furniture manufacturing business and can assure you that standard Porsche leather seats are not good quality leather. I have hundreds of hides hanging in my plant right now and know this subject very well. The supple leather seats are a much higher grade leather and that is why they wear better. I will post pics of my two interiors later and you will clearly see what I am talking about.

Mark - I didn't mean to imply you, rather others that were critical and doubtful that a sub-20k car seats could look that way in a photo. I saw your supportive comment, which is why I quoted it
It really is amazing the character of the leather they used in my 993 C2S.

Wish they would just put a buy it now price. Who knows what the reserve actually is? I thought $ 65,000 was a good price if it was on the up and up.

This is a hoot. While entirely irrelevant to the looming sales price, the NA dealer cost of the MY98 C2S was $63K something IIRC. In addition was the generous trunk money discount on the C2S specifically. Remember the Europe market MY98 996 was simultaneously in production with the 993 being the red headed step child. Papa always said, son, buy low sell high.
In the eyes of many, Porsche AG has never improved the 911 beyond the 993s charactor. Call it old sckool evolution for so many decades. The French have a term for this which I can't spell..... je ne c'est quoi ??
GLWS.
