I posted a picture of the Option List for the 1998 911 in my Album. What options would you have ordered?

Is it me or are the seats a little worn for 15,000 miles? Everything else looks great

Please show me a 1998 black leather seat that does not show wear. Porsche leather seats are notorious for showing wear.

Look at these with only 11K miles

Hi

Not sure about that. I have a 1994 with 185k miles and the sports seats are excellent. Having said that I have seen some not so great examples.

Those seats look like they just came off the factory floor. You may be mistaking wear for natural variations in the leather. Here's a photo of my 17,700 mile original seats. Inspection with a magnifying glass will show zero wear, but the photo shows the natural variation and lighting certainly plays tricks with the eyes because this natural leather has peaks and valleys.

I'll take the other side of the trade..... NONSENSE.
The leather used by Porsche AG (actually Lear) is from German cows being notoriously thick skined.....
However, I agree with the seller that the seats show wear,,,, in face of the low odometer mileage.

A simple download of this vehicles ODB II ECU, say with Rom Raider will provide a second mileage metric..Can the ECU be swapped? Yes however an undisclosed ECU swap would be telling.
Many investments are simaliar. Ya put's yer money down and take's your chances......Read the ECU.

Oh please, the heated hard back sport seats in my #351 of 993 C2S coupe look as new today.

North of $60K thus far...... astonishing the maket is. GLWS.

That is a crock of ****. My 96' has 85k miles and the seats look better than Sloans or the other sub 20k mile car shown on this page. I would say that there are allot of members who have bought cars that have been clocked and are living in denial. I will also say ,without hesitation, that there is no efing way that Sloans car has 11,000 miles. More like well above 50,000 miles. The 993 is one of the easiest cars to clock and with the prices as high as they are many dealers and privet sellers are doing illegal things to get top dollar. Sorry but it's the raw truth.

Seat wear is directly related to the carelessness of the owners and the amount of physical use. The year of the car is irrelevant.

Why are people using seats to validate mileage on cars? I think they are one of the easiest interior pieces to swap and prone to neglect.

It is allot easier to pull the speedo than change the seats. Why would the seats be neglected more than the carpet or dash? On a car that only has two milage entry's on the AutoCheck it is very easy to clock the milage. I bought a 96' turbo in 05' that had 11,000 miles. The only way I was able to verify(ECU's can be changed) the cars milage was that the original owner had the cars oil changed every year at Champion Porsche where the car was bought. Champion reports all of there service to CarFax and they appear on there reports. A real collector is going to know this and spend the extra money to have the car serviced at Porsche dealership. Especially if the car is a GQ and they intend to sell it at some time in the future for a premium. All of my 993's have at least ten milage entrees on there AutoCheck reports from dealers.I know that InSkip,Beasly,Champion,Beverly Hills and The Collection report all services to AutoCheck. Knowing how to do ones own due diligence is essential to buying a quality used car. The lack of verifiable milage documentation and numerous inconsistencies in the owners "story" would prevent me from buying the C2S this thread is about.

I find that the base 993 leather seats wear terribly compared to the supple leather seats. My C2 had supple and with 12,000 miles on the car it looked like it had barely been sat in. My 14,000 mile C2S had standard seats and they looked "used" like the one's in Ron's car.
