Hi Jason,

What you're saying implies that without any hardware changes the motronic's limp home mapping in case of a MAF failure has enough resolution/bandwidth to properly* map for Alpha N, correct?

*by properly I mean enough resolution to optimise the entire rev/load range to make for a weekend warrior that's both docile in traffic and a killer on the track

When so I definetely stand corrected!

With the 993 you can set the internal MAF load value to a constant value and then use the TPS as the main load sensor. If you want to increase the resolution, its just an array that you can expand and store later in the address space. The 964 ECU requires a little more work in that you have to change the AFM correction array for a TPS sensor. There is also a "kinda unused" A/D channel that can be expanded for MAP sensor correction.

This whole winter thing eats all the fun out of the game... I have had the car in carage for 2 weeks now... 5 more months until the season starts again...
My plan was to go and fiddle with the idle today, but offcourse the battery had emptied itself. So i only got mess aroung with the MS a bit. Some screen shots:

btw. What were the rpm´s when the resonator? flap and the Varioram did engage?

My goal is to also to control my 964 spoiler ( by speed) and my active exhaust system ( by rpm and throttle position) with the Megasquirt. Lets see how these work out.

Varioram tubes at 5100rpm and resonance flap at 5900rpm is a good place to start with a varioram on standard cams. For reference the resonance flap opens at 5600rpm on a non-Varioram engine.

We didn't yet have a chance to run Jaskas ECU parallel to Motec but we did try another 55-pin ECU. This one did not have the problem as you can see from the video. i.e. the fault is not in design or wrong components but perhaps faulty component in Jaskas ECU.

In this video the new ECU is getting the sensor inputs from my engine, which again is run by Motec. i.e. the new ECU only sees the inputs as a slave and Motec is the pulling the strings (outputs) and controlling the engine.
As you can see, there is no problem whatsoever with the RPM pick-up.

Chris,

Send me your contact details (e-mail and telephone) and I can have Juuso (my friend who is making these ECUs) contact you.

Chris,

Try it trough my website: http://m3supercar.1g.fi/kuvat/993/MS3/

But there's really nothing special in that video. Just me revving the engine and looking at the MS tune.

Nice, Juuso was at my garage to test a couple ECU´s. The engine started on first try with both ones.
I heard that the lucky owners are somewhere here in Europe. Please share your experiences.

Problem is Juuso is currently in Munich, working for BMW... Away from his home laboratory.

There are about 10 ECUs out and about half of them for US cars. No problems so far, they are working flawlessly. I will ask for an update fom Juuso, what is available now. I think he has possibility to fabricate ECUs that has already been tested but no possibility to work on new models due to limited time at home.
The BMW work is a project which will end later this year so he should be back in business by end of the year.

I recall he mentioned at some point that he had been working on the knock control as well...
