cool...thanks. looking around ebay, I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. The DIY pictures seemed to suggest using the clips/connectors from a used one to avoid cutting wires.

Yes, it’s a good idea to get a used clock spring so you can keep yours intact and reverse the mod.
Yiu can find the Mod 7 Here from Torqued for just $229, shipping included. The “OEM” wheel is merely a Mod 7 with a Porsche logo engraved. Momo did not make this at their factory, I’m told. It was a modification after it left the shop.
One difference rarely noted is that the cup steering wheel is 340mm in diameter vs Mod07 at 350mm.
Thanks, I was unaware of that. I always thought the original cup wheel was also just a Mod 7, but perhaps not. I have one of the cup steeeing wheels from Gert. It’s a Mod 7 with a 9/16 date stamp. I ran accross this Threadwhere Momo notes these 2016 “cup” wheels are merely Mod 7 wheels. The Porsche was engraved (not by Momo) only after they left the Momo factory.
Thanks for the input....I did a little measuring, and I think the 07 will move the wheel closer to me than I like. I'm 5'10", and the seat is almost all the way back. I'm now going between the Tipo and the Competition. Probably will go with the Tipo. Thanks again.
Just in case you get the Prototipo and want to move it a little closer to you, I have a Momo 15mm spacer that I purchased but never used.
Ebay i was able to only fine clock spring for $100 in the US + $30 of shipping to France. I am not cheap but $75 per 2 pin connector was too much lol Aren't these connectors sill made somewhere ?
I was in the same boat and lucked out at a local scrap yard which had a Boxster steering column switch unit with clock spring for $40 (same parts as 993). They happily chopped the cars harness and included the plug on the car’s side. Aside from online sellers, brick and mortar junkers don’t really sell this stuff and end up trashing it.
Lucky for once. I stopped at my local indy shop and he was changing a 996 airbag with a broken clockspring.... So the work has started, I had not used a soldering iron in 30 years
Thanks for the quick response, before I start taking everything apart I just want to make sure I have all the parts needed. Is it correct that the 4 front facing bolts on the 964 column can be reused from the 993 column? It's not immediately obvious just by looking at my stock 993 setup where the 4 bolts can be reused. I only see 2 front facing bolts on the 993..........
